The ESA\u2019s are all CLD practitioners working in the field who joined Education Scotland on a part time basis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Community Learning and Development team recruited four ESAs who came with a variety of different working knowledge, skills and were located in different locations across Scotland. The experience of the ESAs covered CLD in local authority, College and voluntary sector and included youthwork, community development and community-based adult learning backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The four projects carried out were:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Project 1 \u2013\u00a0Digital Skills\u00a0&#8211; Caroline Whitson (Jamie Dungavell)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Engage with the CLD sector on the \u2018Digital Skills for Scottish Educators\u2019 resource\u00a0to develop an understanding of what is needed to scaffold\u00a0implementation including piloting the resource and supporting development for a CLD context.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Project 2\u00a0\u2013 Professional Learning\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Rhonda Leith (Susan Epsworth)\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Consider\u00a0and exploreprofessional learning activities (PLA\u2019s) that\u00a0could\u00a0be developed, based on evidence available and from other ESA projects.. An example taken forward was the development of a new misinformation\/disinformation PLA.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Project 3\u00a0\u2013 CIC Sensemaking\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Tracey Kernaghan (Julie Beckett)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Joint pilot delivery of stakeholder engagement\u00a0sessions\u00a0with the CLD sector on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/cices\/professional-learning\/\">sensemaking\u00a0toolkit of the Curriculum Improvement Cycle (CIC)<\/a>. Gather feedback to inform, develop, design and publish a CLD version.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Project 4\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Research: What does UK and international practice tell us about greater synergy between CLD and Curriculum Improvement Cycle \u2013\u00a0Fiona Robertson\u00a0<\/strong> <strong>(John Galt \/ Laura Starkey)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Building on the initial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/community-learning-development-scotland-internationally-literature-review\/pages\/1\/\">Literature review<\/a> published in July 2024 on Community Learning and Development (CLD) as part of the Still report and as part of Education Scotland\u2019s changing role from Education Reform. Education Scotland delivered engagement sessions in 2025 which led to the publication of a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/escldportal\/uploads\/sites\/10429\/2025\/08\/15093834\/CLD-Discussion-Paper-1-final-140825.pdf\">discussion paper<\/a>. This research project was to further investigate what\u00a0community education\/CLD approaches exist\u00a0across the\u00a0UK\u00a0and internationally in relation to curriculum and produce a publication to share the findings.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We await further information on the Education Support Assistant pilot project as to whether this will continue in future.
