About the organisation
Released in November 2013, Scotland CAN DO was developed with public, private and third sector partners. It makes clear our ambition and sets out the priority areas where we will jointly act to see Scotland become a world-leading entrepreneurial and innovative nation.
The four themes of this work are; Capable, Ambitious, Networked and Demand and Opportunities. These were developed in collaboration with partners and contain more specific areas for priority action. The Team Scotland approach has been reinforced amongst key stakeholders as we develop work that is complementary to and collaborative with the existing public offer.
The framework makes clear that Scotland has not only a first class heritage, but also the potential to continue to contribute positively to the world. Our values of growth with social responsibility are highlighted alongside our desire to ensure that all of our people are able to reap the benefits brought by sustainable growth.
In November 2013, Mr Swinney committed £3 million to support projects and initiatives to fulfil the ambition set out in the original Scotland CAN DO framework. It initiated a programme of work with partner organisations which span the public, private and third sectors.
Launched in April 2014, Scotland CAN DO Action Framework sets out detail where we will invest and how we will work with partners to fulfil our ambition.
Scotland CAN DO Assembly
The Scotland CAN DO Action Framework committed to an annual Ministerial entrepreneurship and innovation summit. The Assembly, on 20 February, was the first of these events and the brought together around 150 public, private and third sector partners from the entrepreneurship and innovation community.
The aim of the Assembly was to build on the collective approach we are taking and re-enforce to partners that more can be achieved and greater impact delivered by coming together than working in isolation. Through this approach we can help achieve our aim to make Scotland a more entrepreneurial and innovative nation.
The Assembly was an all-day event which included talks from various speakers, including the Deputy First Minister and Sir Tom Hunter.
The event was supported by the Prince’s Trust Scotland.
