About the organisation

CETS is a non-profit distributing co-operative organisation which aims to ensure that all participants in the Scottish education system are made aware of co-operative, mutual and employee owned models of enterprise.

These alternative business formats are for more than profit; can help those who might otherwise feel excluded from entrepreneurship and help more of Scotland’s citizens benefit from income and wealth generation through broader ownership of our enterprising and innovative economy.

Testimonials

“The visit to the Media Co-Op in Glasgow was illuminating. That visit and concomitant discussion broadened the scope and definition of what a co-op was in my eyes.

At Carluke High our aim is to create a co-op group based on the model I saw during the visit. This “school media co-op” will undergo a training and practice year before undertaking the course and becoming a co-op within the school.

The aim is for the ‘school media co-op’ to make audio and visual documents and presentations for the range of activities and charities around Carluke high School. To do this a programme has been created called ‘Biscuits’(A Brief –Ideas-Storyboard-Camera-iMovie-Titles-SoundFX) introduction course in A/V production. Three different scenarios, one of an advert commission, a news/current affairs commission and an entertainment commission have been presented as briefs to which the group will contribute ideas, storyboard, plan and produce the finished presentation for screening to an imagined client.

We have fundraising groups for Fair-trade, Guide Dogs, Sport Relief and many more charities in the school and the aim is that the media co-op might be established to this end, certainly within the next two years.

Thanks”
