About the organisation
Remember Phones 4U ? Or Woolworths? The rate of change in our towns has been both swift and dramatic, but that doesn’t alter one basic fact: we love our towns. They are the places and spaces that provide a backdrop to our culture and history, and there are lots people out there who see potential in underused places and spaces and want to breathe new life into them.
Without can-do people, these places and spaces will decay. Fortunately, there are plenty of people out there who want to do something, people who want to create new opportunities for local employment, enterprise and job creation.
Are you part of a Development Trust Association, Business Improvement District or a group of can-do people? If so, then there has never been a better time or opportunity to bring your entrepreneurial vision to your town centre.
Can Do Towns is all about helping people make things happen.
We have a vision to help people create Can Do Spaces in towns across Scotland. Not innovation spaces, not creative spaces but messy spaces . spaces where people can make their own work, try out new ideas and collaborate. Places where the money stays in the local economy.
Our participants range from community activists, local volunteers, local businesses, local authorities, and arts projects. Can Do Towns participants are a wide and diverse group united by a desire to do something to re-energise their town. Take a look at our postcards to read more about their stories.
