About the organisation

My World of Work is Skills Development Scotland’s careers web service. It helps young people explore their options for the future, and build the career management skills they need to get there.

They can get the latest information on jobs and industries in Scotland, and discover where their strengths and skills could take them. Our expert advice helps with the big decisions like subject choices and college and university applications.

Our searches let them find courses, volunteering opportunities and job vacancies near them. Plus they can build a CV and practise their interview skills.

Whatever your pupils want to do in the future, My World of Work can help them prepare.

Enterprise activity in schools

My World of Work has an enterprise and entrepreneurship section, full of inspiring case study videos, information and links to resources. This content could be used to help facilitate discussions around enterprise.

The site also provides a full set of partner activities designed with teachers, for teachers. Several of these focus on career options – stereotypes, career fact or fiction, and routes to employment. These could also help when introducing enterprise to young people as an option for their future.

Testimonials

‘My World of Work has helped my friends and I find out our core skills, and what jobs we would be best in. So, it’s helped us decide what we want to do in the future.’
