Early learning and childcare staff are often some of the firs<\/span>t professionals to i<\/span>dentify<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>additional<\/span> support needs, or discuss, and deliver, learning support.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At Enquire, we know that early\u00a0<\/span>years<\/span>\u00a0professionals play a vital role in children\u2019s lives. You are supporting children<\/span>\u00a0(and their families)<\/span>\u00a0right at the very start of their learning journey<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>are often the<\/span>\u00a0first point where\u00a0<\/span>additional<\/span>\u00a0support needs or questions around<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0right to support begin to\u00a0<\/span>emerge<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That’s why we have developed a new early learning and childcare hub which offers advice and information specific to those working in this sector.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The changing landscape<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the last few years, early learning and childcare has\u00a0changed\u00a0significantly, not least with the introduction and continued roll-out of the expansion to funded hours as well as a steadily increasing number of children presenting with support needs.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With longer days, changing routines and increasingly complex needs, we\u00a0recognised\u00a0that early\u00a0years\u00a0practitioners\u00a0need clear,\u00a0relevant\u00a0and accessible information written for\u00a0you, that is also reflective of a changing landscape.\u00a0Advice\u00a0and information\u00a0that\u00a0acknowledges\u00a0the complexities,\u00a0challenges\u00a0and nuances of early learning settings –\u00a0not\u00a0simply\u00a0adapted from school\u00a0focused\u00a0guidance\u00a0or squeezed in as an afterthought.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reflecting reality<\/strong><\/p>\n

These new pages are designed with early years settings in mind and focus on the children you care for every day, many of\u00a0whom\u00a0are\u00a0at the earliest stages of\u00a0identifying\u00a0needs, accessing\u00a0support\u00a0and learning about their rights. We\u00a0have\u00a0been mindful of using inclusive, early years\u00a0appropriate language\u00a0that reflects your role and expertise.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We also know how busy early years settings are.\u00a0Long\u00a0and busy days\u00a0on the floor\u00a0can make\u00a0finding time for professional learning and development incredibly difficult.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0why these pages are made up of short, bitesize sections of information that can be dipped into whenever you have a moment\u00a0– whether\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0at the start or end of the day or when a specific question arises. We have also included a FAQs page, answering\u00a0common questions\u00a0we hear from early years professionals,\u00a0which we hope will be helpful if you are\u00a0short on time and need an answer quickly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Developed by our Early Years Offer, a former early years practitioner with experience across both local authority and private settings, the hub has been shaped both by the experiences, knowledge and expertise across the Enquire team but also through engagement with organisations who represent early years staff across Scotland. We hope it is reflective of real-life experiences and takes into account the nuances of the early years sector.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We want these pages to\u00a0continue\u00a0be\u00a0shaped by the people who use them\u00a0and\u00a0be\u00a0reflective of real-life experiences and circumstances.\u00a0We\u00a0will\u00a0regularly\u00a0review,\u00a0develop\u00a0and refine\u00a0the content based on feedback from early years professionals to ensure the information\u00a0remains\u00a0relevant,\u00a0practical\u00a0and responsive to your needs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By creating this dedicated space, we hope\u00a0you, as\u00a0early years professionals feel seen,\u00a0included\u00a0and supported\u00a0and are reminded that\u00a0no one\u00a0has to\u00a0navigate\u00a0additional\u00a0support for learning on their own.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
