There’s been an ELC local authority community on the Knowledge Hub for a while now, established back in 2018, and open to Scottish local and central government. It has grown in membership to over 400, making it amongst one of the larger groups in the Scottish part of the Knowledge Hub.
Initially, in its growth phase it saw a rapid expansion and activity as members posted on the group, looking for answers to specific questions or highlighting how their authority had implemented a particular aspect of the expansion. It also brought together Scottish Government and partner publications, advice and comment into one place as well as unique content, including event videos, webinar recordings and a case study series drawn from local authority experience.
Latterly, it has continued to grow and still acts as a signpost to the sources of guidance on the reopening of the sector in response to coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic (see this ELC in Scotland – timeline). And while it has matured as a community, with perhaps fewer active posts that in its early growth stage, it still acts as a place for government to share what they know, ask questions of each other, if so minded, and reflect on best practice. It remains, as with all groups on the Knowledge Hub, a safe, secure platform that allows the public sector to communicate, collaborate, share and, hopefully, learn.
If you think you or one of your colleagues might be interested in joining, the group has an extensive publications library, discussion forum, events calendar and a news feed on all things ELC in Scotland. Members of the group also receive a weekly newsletter about activity in the group containing posts in the forum, additions to the library, forthcoming events, who has joined the group and what news stories, tweets or website updates have occurred in the past week.
