{"id":13365,"date":"2015-11-24T14:05:22","date_gmt":"2015-11-24T13:05:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/eslb\/?p=13365"},"modified":"2015-11-24T14:05:22","modified_gmt":"2015-11-24T13:05:22","slug":"celebrate-park-stars-creative-achievements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/dyw20\/2015\/11\/24\/celebrate-park-stars-creative-achievements\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrate &#8216;Park Stars&#8217; creative achievements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Young people from across Loch Lomond and the Trossachs <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/eslb\/files\/2015\/11\/Park-Stars.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-13387 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/eslb\/files\/2015\/11\/Park-Stars-300x131.png\" alt=\"Park Stars\" width=\"215\" height=\"94\" \/><\/a>National Park attended a glitzy red-carpet awards ceremony on the 29<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup> October 2015 at Cameron House to celebrate their creative achievements in the Skills Partnership\u2019s Park Previews Project \u2013 to promote careers in the National Park.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the past year, the Community Partnership\u2019s (CP) Skills Partnership provided 20 pupils from Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh, Vale of Leven Academy, McLaren High in Callander and Balfron High with professional training in film-making as part of the <strong>Park Previews Project<\/strong>, which is funded by the Big Lottery\u2019s Young Start and Loch Lomond &amp; The Trossachs National Park Authority (LLTNPA).<img class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-2146\" alt=\"10 olivia\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><img class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-2148\" alt=\"5 posters (2)\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The young people were trained by award-winning Scottish film company, <strong>Urbancroft Films<\/strong> who <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-2075 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thecommunitypartnership.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/WP_20150521_15_21_37_Smart-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"227\" height=\"128\" \/>supported them to shoot five inspiring films about what it is like to work for some of the industries flourishing in the National Park.<\/p>\n<p>The films were premi\u00e8red at the event and can be viewed\u00a0on our website,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and will be distributed to schools throughout the area. Martyn Robertson, Creative Director at Urbancroft Films said he was impressed by the creativity and energy of the young people and awarded certificates to the trainees. Seventeen year old Brandon Gray from the Vale of Leven Academy said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cPark Previews has not only introduced us to businesses and careers in the Park, but it\u2019s also trained a new generation of young film-makers. I\u2019ve enjoyed everything about the experience and it\u2019s helped me realise what I want to do in the future. I\u2019m going in to my fifth year at school and my subject focus is media and business and then I hope to go on and study TV production at college and hope to a job in this sector in the future.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Twelve local businesses offered advice and tours of their businesses, while local employers, <strong>Monachyle Mhor Hotel, Carrick Golf Club, Loch Lomond Homes &amp; Garden Centr<\/strong>e and <strong>Fraser C. Robb<\/strong> provided work experience placements to eight young people and presented Certificates of Achievement to the pupils. Jim Brown, Estates Manager from the <strong>Carrick Golf Club<\/strong> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI offered Hermitage Academy students Sarah and Craig the opportunity to learn about grounds keeping at the Golf Club, and was really impressed by their enthusiasm and hard work \u2013 they were great ambassadors for the school. Work experience is a great way to learn new skills and to get an insight into the realities of employment \u2013 work experience really does work!\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecommunitypartnership.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Hospitality-Catering-Poster.png\" rel=\"lightbox-1\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-2165\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thecommunitypartnership.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Hospitality-Catering-Poster-300x212.png\" alt=\"Hospitality &amp; Catering Poster\" width=\"265\" height=\"187\" \/><\/em><\/a>Budding photographers, Haydon Cameron, Kathleen Grant and Adam Findlay from Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh were also honoured for their photography talents in a competition after receiving training from local business <strong>Paul Saunders Photography<\/strong>. First prize went to Olivia White from Hermitage Academy for her photograph promoting Hospitality and Catering, which judge, Stuart Cordner from <strong>Cruise Loch Lomond<\/strong>, said was of \u201c<em>exceptional professional quality<\/em>\u201d. LLTNPA Chief Executive, <strong>Gordon Watson<\/strong>, presented a prize to Brandon Gray for his photograph promoting the Environmental and Conservation sector.<\/p>\n<p>Five winning photos were designed into eye-catching posters promoting local industry sectors and will be distributed to schools, job centres and youth groups in the area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecommunitypartnership.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/5-posters-3.png\" rel=\"lightbox-2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-2191 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thecommunitypartnership.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/5-posters-3-300x225.png\" alt=\"5 posters (3)\" width=\"273\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Chad from <strong>Education Scotland<\/strong> spoke at the Park Stars event and outlined the ambition of the Scottish Government\u2019s seven-year Youth Employment Strategy, Developing the Young Workforce, that education and employers will work closely together to equip all young people with the skills and knowledge they will need to flourish in work, and to support diversity in the workforce. She said the Park Previews Project was an \u201c<em>excellent example<\/em>\u201d of partnership work underway at a local level.<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 guests including young people, teachers, employers, business representatives and skills practitioners from Skills Development Scotland and other support agencies attended the event.
