{"id":12903,"date":"2015-10-13T14:35:52","date_gmt":"2015-10-13T13:35:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/eslb\/?p=12903"},"modified":"2015-10-13T14:35:52","modified_gmt":"2015-10-13T13:35:52","slug":"glasgow-music-festival-speech-and-drama-categories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/dyw20\/2015\/10\/13\/glasgow-music-festival-speech-and-drama-categories\/","title":{"rendered":"Glasgow Music Festival \u2013 Speech and Drama Categories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Glasgow Music Festival provides opportunities for pupils of all ages, to perform poetry, drama, plays and debate at the annual event which runs from March 13 to 15 2016 at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Schools are invited to enter pupils from the ages of five to 18, to give speeches and perform poetry, drama and\u00a0prose in front of an audience and receive constructive feedback from an adjudicator.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Opportunities for debating clubs to participate in prepared Speaking categories (12-13, 14-15, 16-18), team debating and extempore speaking where young people are given\u00a0ten minutes preparation time to come up with a speech on a topic chosen by the adjudicator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*\u00a0Perform a favourite Burns poem or other poem.\u00a0The poem\u00a0could be from\u00a0coursework or it could challenge pupils to find a poem that appeals to them, prepare an introduction and then perform.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The creative performance and monologue categories\u00a0ties\u00a0in with the National 5s and Higher qualification. Pupils can work together on a performance which could include singing, speech, drama, miming and movement.
