This is micro:bit – Session 1 Recap 27th April, 4pm

Here is a very quick recap of session one from This Is MicroBit.
Pete (@PeterMarshman) introduced attendees to the microbit and the makecode editor.
Attendees were taken through some getting started activities where we explored code blocks and the simulator.  The presentation Pete used  through the session can be accessed below. He has updated it to show the solutions for each of the activities that we did. Feel free to use / download as you wish. All the links to the activities are on the slides.
Top Tip: you can use the search function above the block categories to help find commands.
Eg typing “bright” will show all the commands associated to the term

Microsoft Office Specialist Program (MOS) Launch, 27th April 2022, 15.30 – 16.00pm 

This Informative launch event from DigiLearnScot, Microsoft and Prodigy (Microsoft exam and training partners) will guide participants through the program structure and sign up process for the Microsoft Office Specialist Program (MOS).  This is one of two certificated professional learning programs which are being offered without charge for a limited time to Glow users with exams taking place in June 2022. 

The Microsoft Office Specialist Program (MOS) provides industry-leading assessments of skills and knowledge through our project-based testing, giving you real-world exercises to appraise your understanding of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office Specialist courses provide targeted training and support every step of the way and can support practitioners in maximising the impact of these tools which may be available on their own or local authority network in addition to Glow.

Course material is provided via LearnKey video courseware which will enhance the learning experience. It provides self-paced on-demand video learning material for all the Microsoft Office Specialist Programs. These expert learning solutions are easy to use and interactive. They help prepare you for certification success and include: 

  • Video-based e-learning courseware 
  • Interactive labs 
  • Prescriptive study guides 

 Through GMEtrix, practice tests will be available prior to users completing the exam you book onto in June 2022. These performance-based assessment and test preparation tools help individuals achieve certification credentials. Many of you will be anxious to assess your knowledge of applications prior to taking the certification exams. Practice Tests that are powered by GMetrix:

Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) is a professional development program that bridges the gap between technology skills and innovative teaching. Educators holding a MCE certification can prove they have the skills needed to provide rich, customised learning experiences for their students that incorporate critical 21st century skills using Microsoft tools e.g.

  • Ensures faculty/staff have basic understanding of Microsoft Education tools 
  • Ensures faculty/staff can demonstrate how to successfully incorporate 21st century into lessons 
  • Ensures faculty/staff know which Microsoft Education tools can support which specific 21st century skills 

Microsoft Certified Educator: Technology Literacy for Educators certification exam is an intermediate-level examination intended to be a valid and reliable measure of competencies as measured by the 21st Century Learning Design (21CLD) framework. Passing the Technology Literacy for Educators (62-193) exam also gives educators a credential to differentiate themselves with current and future employers.
