{"id":1380,"date":"2024-10-11T16:46:55","date_gmt":"2024-10-11T15:46:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/cices\/?p=1380"},"modified":"2024-10-11T16:47:26","modified_gmt":"2024-10-11T15:47:26","slug":"pilot-curriculum-review-computing-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/cices\/2024\/10\/11\/pilot-curriculum-review-computing-science\/","title":{"rendered":"PILOT Curriculum Review &#8211; Computing Science"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Education Scotland Pilot Curriculum Review of Computing Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2021 OECD report on Scotland\u2019s curriculum recognised the strengths of Curriculum for Excellence (CfE), and made a range of recommendations to ensure that this strength would persist into the future including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cDevelop a systematic approach to curriculum review. Scotland could consider establishing a curriculum review cycle with a planned timeframe and specific review agenda, led by the specialist stand-alone agency\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with this recommendation Education Scotland, in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stacs.scot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">STACS <\/a>are undertaking a <strong>pilot<\/strong>\u00a0curriculum review of Computing Science.\u00a0 While this is a pilot, the outcomes are just as valid as non-pilot activities and the pilot will allow us to learn from the process in order to support the future Technologies area review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Education Scotland invites educators across all sectors (including PTs\/FHs, DHTs and HTs), ELC, primary, secondary, college, university and other key\u00a0stakeholders to apply to be part of this workshop.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop will take place on the<strong> 26<sup>th<\/sup> November 2024 from 10am until 3:30pm in Glasgow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=R3T3DoMQ7E24nyfHZQdoQNc-3F3MCplBhmcMSreADcNUOU5VQkZPVFpJN0xPTThJSUJKU0pNUjFRNC4u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Please register you <strong><u>interest<\/u><\/strong> here<\/a> and you will be contacted if you have been allocated a place at this workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Closing date for registration is <strong>3<sup>rd<\/sup> November 2024<\/strong> and if you have been allocated a space at the workshop you will be notified by <strong>Friday the 8<sup>th<\/sup> November<\/strong> 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We advise you hold the date in your calendars and ensure you have permission to attend from your head teacher or equivalent prior to registering an interest in attending this workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=R3T3DoMQ7E24nyfHZQdoQNc-3F3MCplBhmcMSreADcNUOU5VQkZPVFpJN0xPTThJSUJKU0pNUjFRNC4u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Register Interest In Computing Science Curriculum Review Workshop<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Education Scotland Pilot Curriculum Review of Computing Science The 2021 OECD report on Scotland\u2019s curriculum recognised the strengths of Curriculum for Excellence (CfE), and made a range of recommendations to ensure that this strength would persist into the future including: \u201cDevelop a systematic approach to curriculum review.
