The content, format and style are subject to change. It would not be appropriate to change current planning or tracking and monitoring systems in establishments at this stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There is <strong>no expectation<\/strong> on educators, schools or settings to do anything now with these samples. They are being shared as part of the co-design process and in advance of engagement and feedback time during the 2026\/27 session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The first <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/cices\/uploads\/sites\/10666\/2026\/05\/19142246\/CIC-Explainer-for-Teachers-and-Practitioners-November-2025.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"2359\">CIC Explainers for Teachers and Practitioners<\/a><\/em>, released in November 2025 explains the background to this work. The <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/cices\/uploads\/sites\/10666\/2026\/06\/22115459\/CIC-Explainer-2.pdf\">second explainer<\/a> in the series provides further information about how the curriculum will evolve and the timescales for change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further details on the support available for schools and settings are outlined in a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/cices\/uploads\/sites\/10666\/2026\/06\/24100553\/Education-Scotland-Letter-to-DoE-and-CE-24-06-2026.pdf\">recent letter from Education Scotland\u2019s Chief Executive to Directors of Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The following materials are now available to explore:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>1. &nbsp;An <strong>early draft<\/strong> of new curriculum design guidance titled <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/cices\/building-scotlands-curriculum-draft-resource\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2380\"><em>Building Scotland\u2019s Curriculum<\/em>: a draft resource for discussion and further co-design<\/a> for initial feedback. The final version of this document will replace the current Building the Curriculum series from August 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>2. &nbsp;<strong>Draft samples from each curriculum area within the new Know\u2013Do\u2013Understand (KDU) model.<\/strong> Each sample includes an illustrative Big Idea and a KDU progression strand from CfE Early to Fourth Level, co-created with teachers, practitioners and partners. The samples build on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/cices\/2025\/11\/25\/cic-maths-webinar-25-november-2025\/\">early thinking for mathematics shared in November 2025.<\/a> The KDU model will replace the Experiences and Outcomes (Es&amp;Os) and Benchmarks as these begin to be phased out from August 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>These materials are deliberately being published in <strong>draft form.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Their purpose is to give practitioners and stakeholders a clear sense of how the evolved guidance and KDU model differ from the current Es&amp;Os and Benchmarks, rather than to present a complete or finalised framework at this stage.
