Learning through health and wellbeing enables children and young people to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li id=\"paragraph_NWh-EnQJ-g6\"><span id=\"text_XiQ0FCHAuu8\" class=\"\">make informed decisions in order to improve their mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"paragraph_aPh-EnAJ-g6\"><span id=\"text_pkcDUf2Z9YD\" class=\"\">experience challenge and enjoyment<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"paragraph_nIh-EnwI-g6\"><span id=\"text_e_uUV3yQKF5\" class=\"\">experience positive aspects of healthy living and activity for themselves<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"paragraph__Ch-EngI-g6\"><span id=\"text_hMl3mS3X10A\" class=\"\">apply their mental, emotional, social and physical skills to pursue a healthy lifestyle<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"paragraph_Zxh-EnQK-g6\"><span id=\"text_hC8ZLZ5ZBkC\" class=\"\">make a successful move to the next stage of education or work<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"paragraph_mqh-EnAK-g6\"><span id=\"text_77Z1tcHlf60\" class=\"\">establish a pattern of health and wellbeing which will be sustained into adult life, and which will help to promote the health and wellbeing of the next generation of Scottish children.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"paragraph_dUvEkMKOqjD\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_e5UCLKXheZ5\" class=\"\">Physical Education (PE) is taught by each of our class teachers. We have a huge playing field and selection of equipment. Our teaching team have been developing their approaches in by using Better Movers Thinkers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_qNvEkM4OqjD\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_N5DmaPnByEA\" class=\"\">All children must have a PE kit consisting of shorts, T-shirt and suitable footwear. Swimming is also part of our PE programme with all pupils from P1-7 having lessons in a 10 week block.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_OJb71EuC3S4\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_fcQDAi_drZ7\" class=\"\">Our Active Schools Co-ordinator also works closely with the school to organise a variety of experiences for the pupils in Bower.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_BQb71E8D3S4\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_PWWGpJRPVD7\" class=\"\">We have implemented a new Health and Wellbeing scheme, \u2018<\/span><span id=\"text_cPWGpJBPVD7\" class=\"TextBodySpecial\">Jigsaw\u2019<\/span><span id=\"text_-kWGpJxPVD7\" class=\"\"> which covers all areas including sexual health and relationships. Before more sensitive topics are taught in school, parents will be informed via termly newsletters or our Seesaw platform and information about the learning can be provided by request.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_o5b71EOC3S4\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_cLGVxBxXfYA\" class=\"\">In Bower, our P4-7 children have a rota whereby a pair of children organise, display and distribute equipment for their schoolmates to play with at lunchtimes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"margin: 0cm\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Learning in health and wellbeing ensures that children and young people develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, capabilities and attributes which they need for mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing now and in the future.
