All children need support to help them learn. Some children require more help than others. We follow the \u2018Highland Practice Model Staged Approach\u2019 to assessing, identifying and supporting additional support needs. In this model every child has a \u2018named person\u2019 who is responsible for making sure that the child or young person has the right help to support his\/her development and well-being. In Bower Primary School, the named person is the Head Teacher, unless otherwise stated.<\/p>\n
There are times when a Child\u2019s Plan may be put in place to help organise, monitor and regularly review a child\u2019s progress. Parents would be informed of and heavily involved in the writing and reviewing of this. They would also attend the meetings. Staff will also support the emotional development and wellbeing of pupils though formal and informal curricular activities. Schools have access to the Primary Mental Health Worker Service and consultation and advice can be sought if there are concerns that might require more targeted support.
