Although it is important to identify where we are now, it is not enough to stop there. We need to reflect upon how we can develop the skills where we are less confident and how we can transfer the skills in which we are confident and competent.

Activity 2

Complete the audit below, using the information from the table above.

Set personal goals  Aims and goals fuel motivation, something to work towards which in the process will improve various skills and personal development.  I create various steps I work through to eventually achieve my goal, self discipline is key.
Team Work  Future collaborative working, engaging and communicating with others in and outside my professional practice or group work.  I have been part of many sport clubs and understand the importance or team work. I also appreciate that more can be achieved within a group than individually in certain scenarios.
Listen to others  To understand and take in other peoples opinions and views within group activities.  In group and previous work scenarios, listening to others has proved advantageous and I will continue to develop this skill in the future.
Organise and plan To be prepared and plan ahead whether that is for my studies or in a work place. This also improves time management.  For the majority of my life I have had to balance my social life, work, studies and sport clubs. I have been able to manage these efficiently by distributing my time to each accordingly.
Use of technology  The use of IT helps with studying and research. It also enables the use of communication with others whether through email or social media.  Through previous group work I have been able to use my computing skills to create presentations and use the internet to enhance my studying and knowledge.

** This section should be completed as you identify when/where/how you have used/developed these skills.

Self confidence  By sharing my opinions and ideas more in group conversations.  I am aware I can come across quite shy especially when I’m put into groups with people I do not know but I am already noticing a change in my confidence and I will continue to work on it.
Act as a leader  Similar to previous point. I will try to make sure my voice is heard but also appreciate what others have to say.  I normally prefer others to play this role within a group but I would like to challenge myself and will works towards doing so.
Flexibility  By being more open to different strategies and approaches.  I do like to work in certain ways and that includes planning ahead and having a solid approach. I do get anxious with change of routine and so this is something I need to work on.
Problem solve  I believe I can improve this specific skill through mostly practice.  I do take my time with problem solving and feel comfortable with this skill but it is one I can improve on as I do not always think outside the box.
Negotiation  I need work on this skill by meeting  in the middle with other peoples suggestions, particularly in group situations. In group scenarios I have at times wanted things to go a specific way and therefore need to become more open and flexible,
