We at Annan Academy have been on our journey to becoming a Rights Respecting School since 2018 and were awarded our Bronze: Right Committed award in December 2018.\u00a0 In the 2020\/21 term we are aiming for our Silver award looking to embed rights across the curriculum and highlighting children\u2019s rights in various different ways.\u00a0 We will be working on creating a whole school charter, continuing PSE lessons looking at rights and working with the wider school community to highlight the importance the rights of young people.<\/p>\n
Pupils have been learning about the following rights this year in PSE:<\/p>\n

Article 2 (all children have rights)<\/strong> All children have the rights set out in the UNCRC.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Article 28 (right to education)<\/strong>\u00a0Every child has the right to an education.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Article 24 (health and health services)<\/strong>\u00a0Every child has the right to the best possible health.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Article 27 (adequate standard of living)<\/strong>\u00a0Every child has the right to a standard of living that is good enough to meet their physical and social needs and support their development.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Our cluster primaries have also joined us on our Rights Respecting Schools journey by all becoming Rights Respecting Schools.\u00a0 Annan Academy and all cluster primaries will work together to provide all children with an awareness of their rights and the importance of respecting the rights of others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Rights Respecting School UNICEF is the world\u2019s leading organisation working for children and their rights.
