{"id":19,"date":"2017-02-03T10:42:46","date_gmt":"2017-02-03T10:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/able\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2019-04-15T08:40:00","modified_gmt":"2019-04-15T08:40:00","slug":"literacy-across-learning","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/able\/test\/literacy-across-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"Literacy across Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government has made it clear that literacy is the responsibility of all members of a secondary school community, not just teachers of English:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Literacy enables pupils to access all other areas of the curriculum<\/li>\n<li>If literacy elements (e.g. understanding of written texts, extended writing, working with others) play a part in any subject&#8217;s final assessments, preparation for that should be embedded within courses from S1 onwards<\/li>\n<li>Literacy opens up opportunities for pupils to talk about their learning.
