{"id":551,"date":"2012-06-16T08:53:09","date_gmt":"2012-06-16T08:53:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/STEMcentralinmotion\/?p=551"},"modified":"2012-10-11T12:51:55","modified_gmt":"2012-10-11T12:51:55","slug":"forensic-rookies-transition-and-the-astrazeneca-science-teaching-trust-scottish-islands-and-mainland-ict-and-science-project-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/STEMcentralinmotion\/2012\/06\/16\/forensic-rookies-transition-and-the-astrazeneca-science-teaching-trust-scottish-islands-and-mainland-ict-and-science-project-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Forensic Rookies, Transition and the AstraZeneca Science Teaching Trust: Scottish Islands and Mainland ICT and Science project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/STEMcentralinmotion\/2012\/05\/28\/forensic-rookies-transition-and-the-astrazeneca-science-teaching-trust-scottish-islands-and-mainland-ict-and-science-project\/\">end of May<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/eslb\/2011\/12\/05\/forensic-rookies-transition-and-the-astrazenica-science-teaching-trust-azstt\/\">last December, we blogged<\/a> about an exciting project \u201cForensic Rookies\u201d involving primary and secondary schools in West Lothian, Shetland and Perth &amp; Kinross.\u00a0Collaboration via Glow Wikis and culminating in a Glow meeting in February was the key to success for the learners, in this ASZTT funded project.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the authorities is taking the \u201cForensic Rookies\u201d project forward with\u00a0a variety of approaches being used to meet the needs of the learners within each setting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/eslb\/2011\/12\/05\/forensic-rookies-transition-and-the-astrazenica-science-teaching-trust-azstt\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"playground260_tcm4-665655\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/eslb\/files\/2012\/05\/playground260_tcm4-665655.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A series\u00a0vodcasts with feedback and reflections from learners and practitioners is available on YouTube\u2019s ScienceEdResearch channel. These vodcasts are rich in reflection on why schools got involved and benefits to learners. I had the opportunity yesterday to review some of the learners discussions via Glow and was hugely impressed with learners collaboration and thinking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=60ncmu6AaaE&amp;feature=relmfu\">Janette Kean and primary 4-7 learners from Westfield Primary, West Lothian<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=F0nBWGCwbPM&amp;feature=relmfu\">Margaret Cameron, Helen McCulloch, and learners from Couper Angus Primary, Perth &amp; Kinross<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eMdMz9ZQh8E&amp;feature=relmfu\">Wilma Missenden and learners from P1-P7 at \u00a0Urafirth Primary School, Shetlands<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JnJXCmFch6k&amp;feature=relmfu\">W Pieroni and L J Grant and learners from Blairgowrie High School, Perth &amp; Kinross<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An issue discussed when we were working with practitioners recently was around how to meet the needs of a range of learners within an S1 science class, with a range experiences.
