{"id":3945,"date":"2018-09-07T16:43:20","date_gmt":"2018-09-07T16:43:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/STEMcentralinmotion\/?p=3945"},"modified":"2018-09-07T16:43:20","modified_gmt":"2018-09-07T16:43:20","slug":"education-scotland-is-recruiting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/STEMcentralinmotion\/2018\/09\/07\/education-scotland-is-recruiting\/","title":{"rendered":"Education Scotland is recruiting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Education Scotland is looking for individuals who are passionate about equality and equity to join our exciting new team. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Our Gender Balance and Equalities Team will comprise six posts, including one Education Officer and five Development Officers. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The successful candidates will play an important role in meeting the ambitions of the national <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/beta.gov.scot\/policies\/science-and-research\/stem-education-training\/\">STEM Education and Training Strategy<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\">, in relation to equality and equity. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Their key task will be to ensure that the learning from the successful <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skillsdevelopmentscotland.co.uk\/media\/44705\/review-of-improving-gender-balance-2018.pdf\">Improving Gender Balance<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"> pilot programme is embedded in all early learning and childcare establishments and schools by 2022. The officers will be expected to work in close partnership with the Regional Improvement Collaboratives and other key partners to lead and coordinate professional learning programmes and to support effective cross-sectoral collaboration. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Important aspects of the programme will be as follows:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';margin: 0px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">Helping practitioners to challenge stereotypes and address unconscious bias.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';margin: 0px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">Challenging gender-based decisions around subject choices, learner pathways and career ambitions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';margin: 0px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">Supporting efforts to improve gender balance in Foundation Apprenticeship and Modern Apprenticeship routes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';margin: 0px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">Building collaborative networks of practitioners who will come together to learn, share and develop effective approaches.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';margin: 0px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">Enabling practitioners from early learning and childcare, additional support needs, primary, secondary, community learning and development and further and higher education to work together to ensure a consistent approach to gender and equality across a learner\u2019s journey.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';margin: 0px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">Helping settings and schools to engage effectively with parents and their wider community in relation to gender balance and equality.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';margin: 0px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
