{"id":32,"date":"2010-07-03T17:58:24","date_gmt":"2010-07-03T17:58:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/ISRU-News\/curriculum\/"},"modified":"2010-09-13T21:57:48","modified_gmt":"2010-09-13T21:57:48","slug":"curriculum","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/ISRU-News\/curriculum\/","title":{"rendered":"Curriculum"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The first <a href=\"http:\/\/clickcleverclicksafe.direct.gov.uk\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">UK Child Internet Safety Strategy<\/a> was launched in December 2009. \u00a0Scottish Government launched its own specific\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotland.gov.uk\/Publications\/2010\/02\/09154928\/2\">Action Plan<\/a> in February 2010 to help address some of the Child Internet Safety and Responsible use issues in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Action plan specifically uses the words<em>\u2018responsible use\u2019 <\/em>following any reference to\u00a0<em>\u2018child internet safety\u2019 as Scottish Government believe we<\/em> are only going keep our children safe on line through education and by teaching them to use the Internet responsibly. \u00a0This blog follows that ethos.<\/p>\n<p>The report also\u00a0\u00a0makes reference to the fact that Internet Safety and Responsible Use\u00a0<strong>IS<\/strong> the\u00a0<strong>responsibility of all staff.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The experiences and outcomes where this is specifically mentioned include:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltscotland.org.uk\/experiencesandoutcomes\/tch108a.asp?strReferringChannel=curriculumforexcellence\" target=\"_blank\">Technologies Level 1 \u2013 2<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am developing my knowledge and use of safe and acceptable conduct as I use different technologies to interact and share experiences, ideas and information with others\u201d.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltscotland.org.uk\/experiencesandoutcomes\/tch308a.asp?strReferringChannel=curriculumforexcellence\" target=\"_blank\">Technologies Level 3<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBy considering ways to protect technological devices, I can act safely and responsibly when selecting and using different technologies to communicate and collaborate\u201d.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<div><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltscotland.org.uk\/experiencesandoutcomes\/hwb016a.asp?strReferringChannel=curriculumforexcellence\" target=\"_blank\">Health and Wellbeing Early \u2013 Levels 0 &#8211; 4<\/a><\/strong><\/div>\n<p><em>\u201cI am learning to assess and manage risk, to protect myself and others, and to reduce the potential for harm when possible\u201d.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">As you will know if you are Scottish teacher or have at least read and understood a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltscotland.org.uk\/curriculumforexcellence\/index.asp\">Curriuclum for Excellence<\/a>. Health and Wellbeing is the Responsibility of all professionals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/olliebray.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341eb53c53ef0120a9229a32970b-pi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/olliebray.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341eb53c53ef0120a9229a32970b-300wi\" alt=\"Google ranks\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>It is also important to remember<\/strong> that when we talk about Child Internet Safety and Responsible Use we are not just referring to online grooming and the protection of children from sexual abuse.<\/p>\n<p>We are also,\u00a0<strong>very importantly<\/strong>, referring to the education of children and young people to help them become more digitally literate. Once again, this falls under the responsibility of all professionals within CfE and it is particularly well illustrated in the following outcome:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltscotland.org.uk\/experiencesandoutcomes\/lit318a.asp?strReferringChannel=curriculumforexcellence\" target=\"_blank\">Literacy Levels 2 &#8211; 4<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTo help me develop an informed view, I am exploring the techniques used to influence my opinion. I can recognise persuasion and assess the reliability of information and credibility and value of my resources\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Furthermore, all Scottish teachers also have\u00a0<strong>a commitment to the protecting of children as part of the Standard for Registration of the GTCS.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/olliebray.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341eb53c53ef01310f894c3e970c-pi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/olliebray.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341eb53c53ef01310f894c3e970c-250wi\" alt=\"Gtcs-logo\" width=\"141\" height=\"97\" \/><\/a>Referred to in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gtcs.org.uk\/Publications\/StandardsandRegulations\/The_Standard_for_Full_Registration.aspx\">GTCS Standard for Full Registration<\/a> under:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>3.1 Professional values and personal commitment <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cRegistered teachers show in their day-to-day practice a commitment to social justice, inclusion and caring for and protecting children\u201d.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Any teacher wishing to fulfill this part of the standard must understand that\u00a0<em>\u2018protecting children\u2019 <\/em>includes\u00a0<em>\u2018off-line\u2019<\/em> and\u00a0<em>\u2018on-line\u2019<\/em>.
