<\/a><\/p>\nA week dedicated to\u00a0highlighting the Legacy of the Glasgow 2014 XX Commonwealth Games is almost here.<\/p>\n
Legacy Week (9th-15th March 2015) throws a spotlight on the impact, opportunities and benefits of legacy activity across Scotland. With over 60% of the Commonwealth population under the age of 30, it is hardly surprising that the theme for 2015 is “A Young Commonwealth”.<\/p>\n
Legacy week begins on Monday 9th March\u00a0with Commonwealth Day<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n A range of information and resources to support learning inspired by the context of the Commonwealth<\/a><\/strong> is available online.\u00a0We have highlighted some to help get you started!<\/p>\n Our Commonwealth<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 an educational booklet (free download)\u00a0to support learning at Early and First level.<\/p>\n Young Commonweatlh<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 a website to support learning at Early and First level covering a range of topics including information about the Commonwealth, an interactive international map, diversity and unity and a range of resources and competitions.<\/p>\n An Interactive International map<\/a><\/strong> charts current environmental, economic and rights projects taking place across the Commonwealth. There are links to a range of articles to support learning at Second, Third and Fourth levels across a number of themes including democracy, economic development, governance, social development and youth.<\/p>\n Education Scotland has published staff development materials to support learning around Recognising and Realising Children\u2019s Rights<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Visit the Education Scotland Children\u2019s Rights Blog<\/a><\/strong> for\u00a0 ideas\u00a0to underpin learning opportunities around Global citizenship, Learning for Sustainability and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.<\/p>\n The latest Opening Up Great Learning<\/strong> <\/a>publication from Education Scotland\u00a0highlights ways in which schools are increasing the ability of learners to link and apply different kinds of learning in new situations and develop a greater depth of understanding of the world and Scotland\u2019s place in it.<\/p>\n Across communities in Scotland, the legacy of the Games<\/a><\/strong> is being continued through a number of #Legacy2014 programmes.<\/p>\n Check out the legacy website<\/a><\/strong> for the latest news.<\/p>\n Find out about legacy in action<\/a>, <\/strong>and what is happening near you.<\/p>\n No matter what your interest or expertise, you can be part of it<\/a><\/strong>, making a difference in your local community.<\/p>\n Keep up to date with the latest legacy news<\/a><\/strong>.
