{"id":634,"date":"2011-06-06T16:13:55","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T16:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/?p=634"},"modified":"2011-06-06T16:13:55","modified_gmt":"2011-06-06T16:13:55","slug":"scottish-opera-seeks-school-sports-anthem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/2011\/06\/06\/scottish-opera-seeks-school-sports-anthem\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish Opera Seeks School Sports Anthem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">Primary school pupils are being asked to flex their musical muscles for Scottish Opera.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the world\u2019s biggest sporting events are coming to the UK within the next 4 years &#8211; the London 2012 Olympic Games and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games &#8211; and we\u2019re working with both events to find a sporting anthem to celebrate.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\"><br \/>\nPrimary schools who\u2019ve taken part in our current tour <em>Scotland, our Scotland! <\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">are eligible to take part. We want pupils to use the show \u2013 which is all about the fun of sport and teamwork \u2013 as a starting point for composing their very own School Sports Anthem.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\"><br \/>\nThe song can be about any aspect of sport, be it favourite games, what\u2019s most enjoyable about getting involved, or even hopes for Scotland\u2019s future as an international sporting nation.<\/p>\n<p>A panel of experts, including Scottish Opera\u2019s General Director Alex Reedijk, and Scottish mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill, will choose the winner.<\/p>\n<p>Scottish Opera will arrange the winning entry for live instruments, and visit the winning school to rehearse the final version of the song. Singers and musicians from the Company will then perform alongside pupils in a special world premiere performance of the song as part of their own School Sports Day.<\/p>\n<p>The winning entry will also feature on Scottish Opera\u2019s website throughout June 2012.<\/p>\n<p>So get on your marks, get set\u2026and go compose!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">All entries must be submitted by 1 September 2011.
