Wee Movies: Your City, Your Stories<\/span><\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Competition 1: Bird, Deadline Monday 4 July<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dear Teachers,<\/span><\/p>\n

There’s less than a month to get your entries in!<\/span><\/strong><\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Our new competition,\u00a0Wee Movies: Your City, Your Stories<\/span><\/strong><\/strong>, comprises of 4 short film competitions for under-18s in the run up to next year\u2019s Glasgow Youth Film Festival in February 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

The themes of the 4 competitions are the emblems in the Glasgow Coat of Arms:\u00a0BIRD, TREE,\u00a0BELL <\/span><\/strong><\/strong>and FISH.<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

The first competition theme is BIRD and the deadline for entries is Monday 4 July.<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The films, which must be under 5 minutes long, can be about absolutely any idea that the theme inspires, from an animation about a pet budgie to a documentary about whale song. Any technique can be used and even a film shot on a camera phone will be eligible. The competition is open to schools, as well as youth groups, families and individuals aged under 18.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Our friends Derek and Muvizu have made a short film called\u00a0The Bird That Never Flew<\/a> <\/span>to inspire you! We’ve also made a list of\u00a0resources<\/a> to get pupils started on their film masterpiece.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prizes<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The winning films will be shown ahead of appropriate features in the cinema. You and your school will receive complimentary tickets to the screening.\u00a0There will be an awards ceremony and screening during GYFF12 where winners and runners up will be awarded special prizes and certificates.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Plus, for under 12s:<\/span><\/strong><\/strong> Some DVDs of films inspired by our love of birds!
\nAnd, for 12-year-olds and over: <\/span><\/strong><\/strong>4 complimentary cinema tickets<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The next competition theme is\u00a0TREE<\/span><\/strong><\/strong> and the deadline for entries is\u00a0Monday 5 September.<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
