{"id":3778,"date":"2017-06-23T11:36:40","date_gmt":"2017-06-23T10:36:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/?p=3778"},"modified":"2017-06-23T11:36:40","modified_gmt":"2017-06-23T10:36:40","slug":"out-to-play-teacher-cpd-opportunities-resources-this-autumn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/2017\/06\/23\/out-to-play-teacher-cpd-opportunities-resources-this-autumn\/","title":{"rendered":"Out to Play Teacher CPD Opportunities &amp; Resources this Autumn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following on from a successful Out to Play pilot project in 2015, winner of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecodrama.co.uk\/2016\/06\/eco-drama-winner-streets-ahead-awards\/\">Glasgow City Council Environmental Initiative Award 2016<\/a>, Eco Drama will run a series of 7 week creative outdoor learning residencies this autumn with 4 primary schools, marking the beginning of a 4 year project in 25 primary schools and nurseries across Greater Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>Out to Play is a creative learning project in which Drama Artists collaborate with partner Primary Schools and Nurseries to explore the role of Drama, Storytelling and Theatre in Outdoor Learning. The project seeks to facilitate interaction with the natural world through quality artistic experiences, re-thinking traditional views of nature and noticing and appreciating nature on our doorstep. Sessions are tailored to the unique surroundings of each school, and through imaginative play and adventurous learning, Out to Play aims to deepen young people\u2019s connection to our natural world.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Out to Play Teacher CPD Opportunities 2017 <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of the project, Eco Drama are delivering Teacher CPD sessions, which were a popular element of the 2015 pilot project and which\u00a0may be of interest in engaging teachers from your school in outdoor learning.<\/p>\n<p>Eco Drama will be running an after school twilight CPD session on <strong><u>Wednesday 27<sup>th<\/sup> September<\/u><\/strong> at Dalmarnock Primary School, delivered by Ben Mali Macfadyen,\u00a0the Drama Artist who delivered the Out to Play pilot project in 2015 and who led on the creation of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecodrama.co.uk\/resources\/\">Eco Drama Out to Play Resource Pack<\/a>. Additional CPD dates will likely be added on <strong>Tuesday 26<sup>th<\/sup> <\/strong>and\/or<strong> 28<sup>th<\/sup> September.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the session, teachers will explore how to integrate outdoor learning into the school curriculum and how to utilize creative learning\u00a0methods such as drama, storytelling, song and movement in order to engage learners with the natural environment. Participating teachers will also leave\u00a0with an\u00a0<strong>Out to Play\u00a0Outdoor Learning Resource Pack.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Reviews: <\/strong><em>\u201cI hadn\u2019t realised the power of imagination within outdoor learning. Each CPD event is limited to <u>20 attendees<\/u> and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment Eco Drama are gathering notes of interest from teachers who would like to attend this CPD event. \u00a0If this is of interest to your school, please email <a href=\"mailto:nina@ecodrama.co.uk\">nina@ecodrama.co.uk<\/a> detailing <strong>how many teachers you would send<\/strong> and confirming if the <strong>26<sup>th<\/sup>, 27<sup>th<\/sup> or 28<sup>th<\/sup> September<\/strong> would be suitable.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, Eco Drama could visit your school with a <strong>dedicated CPD session<\/strong> for all of your teachers to attend.
