{"id":3554,"date":"2016-05-11T12:09:37","date_gmt":"2016-05-11T11:09:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/?p=3554"},"modified":"2016-05-11T12:09:37","modified_gmt":"2016-05-11T11:09:37","slug":"free-in-school-transition-workshops-for-primary-7-pupils-available-may-june-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/2016\/05\/11\/free-in-school-transition-workshops-for-primary-7-pupils-available-may-june-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Free In-School Transition Workshops For Primary 7 Pupils Available May \/ June 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Moving Up Project<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Moving from Primary to Secondary school can be one of the most testing times for our learners.<\/p>\n<p>From being a big fish in a little pond to a minnow in a new, much larger, sea can be a daunting challenge for some.<\/p>\n<p>The<em><strong> Moving Up T<\/strong><\/em><strong>ransition Project<\/strong>\u00a0utilises the themes and characters from the film\u00a0<em><strong>Inside Out\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>to\u00a0support learners transitioning from P7 \u2013 S1.<\/p>\n<p>The <em><strong>Moving Up\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong>Transition Project<\/strong>\u00a0creative sessions engage\u00a0learners through using clips from the film\u00a0<strong><em>Inside Out.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<em><strong>Inside Out<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0explores the impact of moving from a familiar place to a new home and a new school in a new city, on the central character, Riley.<\/p>\n<p>During the workshop a\u00a0range of playful, creative strategies help learners to examine what the upcoming change will mean for them. Learners then develop an emotional intelligent understanding of how\u00a0a little anxiety during times of change is normal and that there is support available to help them with any concerns they may have. Experienced facilitation within the session will mean that learners create a toolkit that helps them to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>develop coping strategies relating to change<\/li>\n<li>effectively assess some of the things that could go wrong<\/li>\n<li>identify strategies for minimising risk that things will go wrong<\/li>\n<li>identify what to do when things do go wrong<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0find help and support from a range of places Each in-school session is suitable for a maximum of 1 class (30 young people) at a time and lasts\u00a02 hours.
