{"id":323,"date":"2011-03-15T16:26:09","date_gmt":"2011-03-15T16:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/?p=323"},"modified":"2011-03-15T16:26:09","modified_gmt":"2011-03-15T16:26:09","slug":"the-first-official-scots-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/2011\/03\/15\/the-first-official-scots-teachers\/","title":{"rendered":"The First Official Scots Teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> February 2011, teachers for the first time ever were\u00a0awarded Professional Recognition\u00a0for\u00a0Scots Language Teaching by the General Teaching Council for Scotland.\u00a0The awards were presented by Tony Finn, CEO of the GTCS, at the\u00a0Scottish Parliament to twelve teachers before an invited audience of MSPs and guests from all sectors of Scottish education.<\/p>\n<p>The teachers awarded were:<\/p>\n<p>Katrina Lucas, Primary, Falkirk<\/p>\n<p>Caroline Stein, Primary, Falkirk<\/p>\n<p>Rhona Craig, Primary, Fife<\/p>\n<p>Gillian Bell, Primary, South Ayrshire<\/p>\n<p>Laura Brandon, Primary, Edinburgh<\/p>\n<p>Laura Smart, Primary, Dundee<\/p>\n<p>Muriel Angus, Primary, West Lothian<\/p>\n<p>Anne White, Primary, West Lothian<\/p>\n<p>Lois Cassidy, Primary, Falkirk<\/p>\n<p>Gillin Anderson, Secondary, Falkirk<\/p>\n<p>Anne McKinnon, Secondary, West Dunbartonshire<\/p>\n<p>Elaine Webster, Scottish Language Dictionaries<\/p>\n<p>The GTCS is\u00a0encouraging\u00a0more teachers from across Scotland to apply for Professional Recognition for Scots Language Teaching. More information and application forms are available from the GTCS website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gtcs.org.uk\/professional-development\/apply-for-professional-recognition.aspx\">http:\/\/www.gtcs.org.uk\/professional-development\/apply-for-professional-recognition.aspx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As Education Officer for Itchy Coo, Matthew Fitt worked with the GTCS to establish this category for Scots Language Teaching.
