{"id":2259,"date":"2012-11-21T13:49:19","date_gmt":"2012-11-21T13:49:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/?p=2259"},"modified":"2012-11-21T13:50:58","modified_gmt":"2012-11-21T13:50:58","slug":"dumfries-house-hosts-inaugural-ayrshire-artist-gathering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/2012\/11\/21\/dumfries-house-hosts-inaugural-ayrshire-artist-gathering\/","title":{"rendered":"Dumfries House Hosts Inaugural Ayrshire Artist Gathering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stephen Kay, Education Officer for The Great Steward of Scotland\u2019s Dumfries House said<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI was delighted to host the first Ayrshire Artist Networking Event at Dumfries House, organised by Helen Duncan and Jenny Hunter, Cultural Co-ordinators for East and South Ayrshire respectively, providing a venue for over fifty local artists and creative practitioners of various mediums and professionalisms to meet and highlight their individual areas of interest and expertise.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>After a short tour of the House by Charlotte Rostek, Curator of Dumfries House, a keynote speech was delivered by Mark Chester, Executive Director of The Princes Drawing School in London in support of art &amp; culture locally and nationally, and whose foundation has recently opened artist studios on the Dumfries House estate. \u00a0This fantastic new facility will support art education throughout Ayrshire and beyond as part of the educational vision for Dumfries House through the support and involvement of \u201cThe Prince\u2019s Drawing School\u201d, \u201cThe Prince\u2019s School of Traditional Arts\u201d, \u201cThe Prince\u2019s Foundation for Children and the Arts\u201d and as a major part of His Royal Highness, The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay\u2019s Heritage Regeneration programme.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/uploads\/sites\/304\/2012\/11\/e_MJS5728.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2261\" title=\"Dumfries House 03.11.12\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/uploads\/sites\/304\/2012\/11\/e_MJS5728-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/uploads\/sites\/304\/2012\/11\/e_MJS5728-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/uploads\/sites\/304\/2012\/11\/e_MJS5728-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/uploads\/sites\/304\/2012\/11\/e_MJS5728.jpeg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Helen Duncan, Cultural Co-ordinator<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI was overwhelmed with the response &#8211; not only are these Ayrshire artists and makers producing their own work, but working with children and young people delivering high quality creative learning opportunities for schools.\u00a0 This is essentially a business network for artists to connect, collaborate, share and support.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tom Wilson, local Visual Artist and runs Wild and West<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI know I&#8217;m not alone in thinking that the splendour of the house and the warmth of the welcome aside, this was an exciting and inspirational event at Dumfries House.
