Held at Moniack Mhor, the Arvon Foundation Writers\u2019 Centre near Inverness, every May, the course offers the ten selected writers \u2013 together with two from a parallel competition in St Petersburg \u2013 to work on their writing with professional writers.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s tutors are the poet and writer <strong>Gerry Cambridge<\/strong>, and <strong>Catherine MacPhail<\/strong>, the best-selling author of such prizewinning books as <em>Run, Zan, Run<\/em>, <em>Roxy\u2019s Baby<\/em> and <em>Grass<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Pushkin Prizes are open to every child in their<\/p>\n<p>1<sup>st<\/sup> and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> year of secondary school in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Folios \u2013 comprising three pieces of writing on a subject of the pupil\u2019s choice, and in a genre of the pupil\u2019s choice \u2013 should be submitted <strong>by December 16<sup>th<\/sup> 2011<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Information about The Pushkin Prizes in Scotland, now in their 24<sup>th<\/sup> year, was sent to every secondary school in the country in early September.<\/p>\n<p>For further details of previous Pushkin Prizewinners\u2019 Weeks and information about how to enter the Prizes, please visit The Pushkin Prizes website \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pushkinprizes.net\">www.pushkinprizes.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Or contact the Director, Lindsey Fraser at lindsey.fraser@tiscali.co.uk<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Multi-award-winning author for young people, Catherine Macphail is confirmed as one of two professional writers tutoring Pushkin Prizewinners in 2012.
