{"id":1067,"date":"2011-09-02T16:10:48","date_gmt":"2011-09-02T16:10:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/?p=1067"},"modified":"2011-09-02T16:10:48","modified_gmt":"2011-09-02T16:10:48","slug":"young-emerging-artists-sound-out-at-edinburghs-usher-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/2011\/09\/02\/young-emerging-artists-sound-out-at-edinburghs-usher-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Young emerging artists sound out at Edinburgh&#8217;s Usher Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">As the Festival season draws to a close this year,\u00a0Edinburgh\u00a0will still play host to the best of\u00a0Scotland\u2019s emerging talent throughout the winter as a new programme of Sound Check events is announced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">Following a celebrated series of concerts last year, the groundbreaking \u2018Emerging Artists\u2019 scheme returns for a second successive year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">Featuring the best of\u00a0Scotland\u2019s young professional talent, the series gives artists a unique opportunity to perform live in the Usher Hall,\u00a0Edinburgh\u2019s premier concert hall, and gives audiences a chance to hear tomorrow\u2019s stars today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">In partnership with Live Music Now, a charity set up by Yehudi Menuhin in 1977, the initiative not only makes high quality live music accessible, it also supports young musicians at the outset of their careers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">Councillor Deidre Brock, Culture Leader for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: \u201cIt\u2019s great to welcome this series back with a new programme and a new set of talented young performers, who I&#8217;m certain will be inspired by the fantastic setting of Edinburgh\u2019s Usher Hall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">\u201cSome of\u00a0Scotland\u2019s best young musicians will have the opportunity to play on the stage where such greats as Ella Fitzgerald, the Flaming Lips and classical star Nicola Benedetti have performed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">A range of genres will be on offer, from singer\/song writer talent Jo Mango, with her haunting, evocative vocals, to the exuberant rhythm and soul of Hebridean-originals Skerryvore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">All the concerts will take place from 11.00-11.45am, with school pupils, children and students in for free. All other tickets are \u00a32.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;color: black;font-size: small\">Members of the audience have the opportunity to chat with the artists afterwards in the Usher Hall Caf\u00e9 Bar.
