{"id":1017,"date":"2011-08-22T10:13:02","date_gmt":"2011-08-22T10:13:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/?p=1017"},"modified":"2011-08-22T10:13:02","modified_gmt":"2011-08-22T10:13:02","slug":"young-filmmakers-competition-deadline-this-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/CreativityPortalAdmin\/2011\/08\/22\/young-filmmakers-competition-deadline-this-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Young Filmmakers Competition &#8211; deadline this Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Berwick Film &amp; Media Arts Festival is a spectacular celebration of the art<br \/>\nof the moving image, and the largest film festival in the North East and<br \/>\nScottish Borders, located in the border town of Berwick upon Tweed.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival is set to return for a 7th time, Friday 23 \u00ac- Sunday 25<br \/>\nSeptember 2011, spilling out of the Maltings Theatre and into various unique<br \/>\narchitectural locations across the town during one action-packed weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival is now seeking submissions of short films and moving image<br \/>\nworks made by young people under 19 to compete for the Chris Anderson Award<br \/>\nand a cash prize. The winning film will also be screened at the Leeds Young<br \/>\nPeople&#8217;s Film Festival \u00ac one of the biggest film festivals in the UK for<br \/>\nyoung people. This competition commemorates the life of Chris Anderson who<br \/>\nwas an active supporter of both the Festival and young filmmaking.<\/p>\n<p>The Chris Anderson Award was launched in 2007 to encourage young people<br \/>\ninvolved in filmmaking and to identify promising new talent across the North<br \/>\nEast and Scottish Borders. The award offers a cash prize which has kindly<br \/>\nbeen donated by the family of Chris Anderson &#8211; his widow Chrissie Anderson,<br \/>\nand his son Paul WS Anderson, director of Resident Evil and Alien Vs<br \/>\nPredator.<\/p>\n<p>Selected films for the competition will be screened at The Maltings Theatre<br \/>\non Saturday 24th September.<\/p>\n<p>A young programming committee from the Festival Film Club at Berwick Youth<br \/>\nProject will select the programme of films that make up the final<br \/>\ncompetition programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was great to get selected for and win the Chris Anderson Award and have it screened at Berwick Film &amp; Media Arts Festival.
