‘Youth Radiothon’ @ Pulse Radio 98.4, East Renfrewshire
Did you ever want to be on air and run your own radio show? This is your chance: East Renfrewshire Council in conjunction with Pulse Radio 98.4 will celebrate young peoples’ engagement and voice by inviting pupils and youth clubs from the 12 to 14 June to participate in a Youth Radiothon.
New National Qualifications Music website
This website has been developed by Education Scotland in in partnership with practitioners to support learning and teaching at National 3, National 4 and National 5. It is hoped that both learners and practitioners alike will use this website and find the materials to be invaluable when studying music.

Creativity discussion – Radio 4 – chemists, writers and artists
Radio 4’s Start The Week hosted a discussion on Creativity this morning that can be heard on BBC iPlayer here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01gnq8y
The show features Jonah Lehrer, a contributing editor at Wired and an author, experimental sound artist Scanner, novelist Joanna Kavenna, and the chemist Rachel O’Reilly.
Cross-artform leadership programme for mid-career professionals working in learning and education
Extend Leadership Programme 2012-13
Applications are invited from colleagues working in learning and education roles in the arts to participate in the Extend Leadership Programme 2012-13. Extend will support up to 15 mid-career colleagues. The programme aims to give participants the confidence and skills to achieve a greater degree of leadership in the future. This could be through gaining a leadership position or through achievements that raise the status of the profession as a whole.

Funding has been secured from Arts Council England for engage to deliver a leadership programme for colleagues working in learning and education in the arts and cultural sectors from 2012-15. Additional support has been provided by Creative Scotland and the Arts Council of Wales in 2012-13 to support the participation of professionals working in Scotland and Wales respectively.
Building on feedback from the pilot programme, Extend will comprise:
- A training needs analysis
- Two residential programmes, including guest speakers and sessions on advocacy and campaigning
- Mentoring
- A joint project for participants
The fee for the programme is:
- £800 for participants working in England and Wales
- £400 for participants working in Scotland
Extend is open to mid-career professionals (either employed or self-employed) who work in the arts in education and learning roles and are resident and working in England, Scotland or Wales. See the applicant information document for full criteria.

Anti-sectarianism Song written and recorded by Primary School Choir

Glasgow City Council reports that St Anne’s Primary School choir, recent recipients of the Ian Barrie Certificate at the Glasgow Music Festival for the second year running, have worked with a local song writer and penned the lyrics and melody for their song that tackles the issues of sectarianism, territorialism and gangs. Their song has been recorded at a local recording studio. The children hope that their song will be heard in their community and across the city.

Catalyst: Inspiring Arts Ideas for Teachers
The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts is offering a series of inspiring arts-based training days designed to help teachers integrate the arts into their practice. Participants will work with professional artists and practitioners to build confidence in using the arts, focusing on teaching, focused on P3 to P6. Focus Group Roadshows
Creative Scotland is leading the development of Scotland’s first National Youth Arts Strategy. The strategy isn’t Creative Scotland’s, it’s Scotland’s and we would like you to join the conversation.
It will have the vision of establishing Scotland as an international leader in youth arts. Perhaps you think we already are? We need to hear your thoughts and opinions to help shape and inform the strategy. If you’re committed to enriching children & young people’s lives through the arts whether you’re an artist, parent, arts organisation or any other agency working with children or young people then we hope that you can join us at one of the focus groups below.
PLEASE NOTE: These focus groups are specifically for service providers but Young Scot are running a number of consultations with young people on our behalf.
We’re expecting spaces to fill up fast as numbers for each venue are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
