Screening Shorts now on Creativity Portal
There are now over a hundred creative articles, links and resources available through the Creativity Portal with nearly 40 learning and teaching tools amongst them.
Screening Shorts is one of the most recent additions and offers free downloadable films for pupils to explore – all integrated fully with Curriculum for Excellence and most subjects.
Scottish Ballet Glow Group now on Creativity Portal
There are now 33 creatively focused Glow Groups available through the Creativity Portal and Scottish Ballet is just the latest.
At Scottish Ballet Education is Everywhere, it ranges from theatre activities and community classes to online resources and workshops for schools and colleges. The schools’ programme links directly to the work of the Company and provides a broad range of access points for pupils of all ages and abilities.

Bards in the Bog is back

Entries are already rolling in for the re-launch of Shetland Library’s popular scheme to put original poetry in public toilets: Bards in the Bog.
The original ‘Bards’ launched in 2009 and was part of the Poet Partner project, which teamed the Library with poet Jen Hadfield. The scheme attracted wide media attention and entries from all over the world. Deadline for submissions is the 21st December, and the new poems will appear in toilets from January.

Google Model Your Town in 3D [great school project / competition opportunity]
Re-posted from OllieBray.com: This would be a great and real project to do with a class of young people (any anyone who was interested) between now and the end of February 2012.
The Google Model Your Town Competition is about geo-modeling – making photo-textured models of real-life buildings that appear in Google Earth. It is open to people all over the world – last year the winner was from Lima, Peru.
Making 3D models is easy using Google SketchUp or Google Building Maker and you can find out more about creating 3D models by looking a Google’s Your World in 3D Pages.

The Creativity Portal is now a little over a year old and users are visiting the Creativity Portal for its offer of creative partnerships, resources and inspiration, as well as engaging with the Creativity Portal Glow Group behind the scenes in new and exciting ways.

Nearly 700 partnership opportunities and examples of creativity in the curriculum have already been shared through the Creativity Blog – many of which are free for teachers and community learning groups.
That’s more than four pieces of inspiration and creative opportunities each school day.

Animation in the Classroom – new resource
Model animation or stop motion animation is a great classroom activity that engages students of all ages and abilities and can support many curriculum areas.
This resource has been designed for teachers to use as a planning aid for an animation project in the classroom or/and as a printable teaching PDF resource. Each section will explain simple approaches to creating a short animated film.
