During March-June 2015, Drama Artist Ben Mali Macfadyen will be collaborating with teachers and pupils in 4 partner schools across Glasgow to explore the role of Drama and Storytelling within Outdoor Learning.
Out to Play seeks to facilitate interaction with the natural world through quality artistic experiences, re-thinking traditional views of nature as merely ‘sites’ and ‘reserves’, noticing and appreciating nature on our doorstep. Sessions will be tailored to the unique surroundings of each school, and through imaginative play & adventurous learning, Out to Play aims to deepen young people’s connection to our natural world. Pupils will be planting and growing parts of the ‘Living Stage’ during these sessions also and will receive the Uprooted production (complete with Living Stage) next term.
Ben’s blogs are fantastic. Not only do they capture the imaginative play of the sessions, but they are filled with useful ideas and insights and truly are a pleasure to read. I would be wonderful to share them.
