Learning Through Technology Tour

Following the success of Holyrood’s ‘Learning Through Technology’ conference in April, Holyrood Connect and technology partner XMA are going on tour to share an update on the Scottish National School iPad Pilots. Representatives from primary and secondary schools taking part in the pilot, launched by Michael Russell MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education & Lifelong Learning in May, will discuss their experiences so far and their plans for the future while University of Hull will present their initial findings on the impact these devices have had on learning and teaching.

Attendees will get hands on with an iPad for the duration of the event and can get a taste of what children at pilot schools have experienced over the last few months in a classroom breakout session hosted by primary and secondary teachers from pilot schools. For the more technically inclined XMA, Apple Solution Expert in Education will offer a session that looks at how iPad can be effectively secured and managed without impacting on the personalised experience that it offers learners.

Regional Education Manager for Apple, Andy Nagle will discuss Apple’s roots in education and it’s current learning ecosystem including iPad, iBooks Author and iTunesU. There will be an opportunity to submit questions via a Twitter hashtag, a selection of which will be posed to a panel at the end of the session.
