Pupils from a North Ayrshire primary school performed a colourful Chinese umbrella dance for First Minister, Alex Salmond at the launch of the Confucius Institute at the University of Glasgow.
Youngsters from Glebe Primary School in Irvine travelled to Glasgow to demonstrate their appreciation of Chinese culture with a performance of the vibrant and intricate dance.
The event, celebrating the launch of the Confucius Institute for the West of Scotland, was attended by VIP, members of the academic community and public. First Minister Alex Salmond, Chinese Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Scotland, Li Ruiyou, and Xiaogang Tian, Minister Counsellor for Education officially opened the Institute on Tuesday, 4 October.
