School uniform plays a key role in promoting pride, self-confidence, and a feeling of belonging within the school community. Our uniform was agreed in consultation with pupils and parents. We encourage all of our pupils to adhere to our dress code.

The school uniform at Wallacewell Primary is:

• Gold Polo shirt
• Grey/black trousers
• Grey/black trousers skirt

Families can order school blazers in black or grey, however these are not compulsory. It is recommended that families visit the Kit My Kid shop for an in person blazer fitting to ensure the correct fit. Other items of clothing such as jackets, fleeces, jumpers, cardigans and hoodies are also available on the Kit My Kid website.

New for August 2025 – As a result of feedback from families over the last session we will also be introducing an optional school tie for session 2025-26. The tie is currently being designed by the Kit My Kid Team, which can take up to 8 weeks. It will available to purchase later this session. The tie will come as a standard tie or with an elastic neck band, which we would recommend for our younger children.

Pupils are required to bring a pair of indoor shoes to school which must be worn whilst in the school building. This helps us to keep our school clean and safe for all pupils throughout the school day.

5 Cowgate, Kirkintilloch,

Glasgow

G66 1HW

0141 777 8528

Click on the link below to access the link to order our uniform –

https://www.kitmykid.co.uk/WALLACEWELL-PRIMARY/

We also have a supply of uniforms available in school from our Pre-Loved Uniform Bank at reception.

PE Kit – Dressed for PE

At Wallacewell Primary, we want children to make the most of their Physical Education (PE) time. As part of our Dressed for PE approach, pupils should come to school ready for PE on their allocated PE days, reducing time spent changing and allowing children to access their full PE entitlement.

On PE days, children can wear suitable PE clothing to school. This may include plain black shorts, leggings or joggers, with a school polo shirt or plain T-shirt and their school jumper or hoodie. Alternatively, children may wear their PE shorts underneath their usual school trousers or skirt. Suitable trainers should also be worn or brought to school.

Health & Safety

For health and safety reasons, all jewellery should be removed for PE.

If a child is unable to participate in PE for medical reasons, parents/carers should inform the school. Where appropriate, children will still be included in the lesson through activities such as refereeing, keeping scores or helping with equipment and organisation.

We understand that there may occasionally be times when a child comes to school without the appropriate PE clothing. No child will miss out on their Physical Education entitlement simply because they do not have their PE kit. We will support them to participate wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Unacceptable Dress – There are forms of dress that are unacceptable in school, such as items of clothing which:

• Potentially encourage factions (such as football colours)
• Could cause offence (such as anti-religious symbolism or political slogans)
• Could cause health and safety difficulties (such as loose fitting clothing, jewellery)
• Could cause damage to flooring
• Carry advertising particularly for alcohol or tobacco
• Could be used to inflict damage on other pupils

Please note acrylic nails should not be worn to school as the present a health and safety risk in PE. Children with acrylic nails will be unable to participate in PE as per Glasgow City Council procedures.

Earrings/piercings must be removed to participate in PE for health and safety reasons. We encourage all families considering having their child’s ears pierced to do so in the Summer holidays to allow ample healing. Taping of jewellery is not permitted either as it can create a perception of safety. Tape does not reduce the risk of compression injury and can often fall off.

As playtime games do not constitute organised curricular activities, there is a much larger playing area and less opportunity to come in to contact with others, the PE Code of Conduct does not apply.

Clothing & Footwear Grants

Parents/Carers receiving Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance (Income Based), Working Tax Credit (check link below for thresholds), Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit or Universal Credit (check link below for thresholds) will normally be entitled to monetary grants for footwear and clothing for their children.
