Week end 29/9/19

P1c have been busy bees! We have learned the new sounds r and m, within our Literacy. As well as looked closely at sentence structure. We now have a Star Writers board outside our classroom, where some fantastic work can be seen. Last week’s Star Writers were Ava Rose and Zi Xi for their Humpty Dumpty sentence, and this weeks is Miyar and Haya for their sentence. Fantastic work!

In numeracy we have been learning all about the numbers 6 and 7, as well as number order to and from 0-20. We also learned about 2d shapes.

Well done to our Stars of the Week Oliwia and Nelly!

Remember to look at our school Twitter page where there are lots of photos of us learning through play! @vincents_st

P1b-Week Ending 20th September ’19

Quite a lot has been happening with P1b over the past two weeks. The biggest event would be us starting the “Out to Play” project with Sarah from the organisation. For the last two Wednesday afternoons, and for the next three Wednesday afternoons, we have been outside doing exciting activities such as hunting for a treasure chest, following a treasure map, listening and joining in with exciting stories and looking for items in the playground which could do “magic”.  We are all really enjoying these lessons in outdoor learning!

In Literacy we have been learning the sounds “r” and “m” and more common words. We have also been encouraged to independently rewrite sentences in our “Big Writing”-have a go writing! In Numeracy and Maths we have been doing work on the numbers “6” and “7” and looking at 2D shapes around us in the environment.

We have also has a Consolidation Week when we revisited all the sounds, words and numbers we have worked on so far to reinforce our learning. Finally, a big “Well Done” to Lucas who has been our next “Star of the Week”.

2/9/19-6/9/19

P1c have been learning the new sounds s,i,p and n in our Literacy. In Numeracy, we looked at the numbers 2,3,4 and 5. We used many play activities to help us enhance our learning within both our Literacy and Numeracy, including play dough, painting and with glitter. We also looked at Nursery rhymes within our writing.

We have a Music teacher, Miss Hunter, each second Monday who we really look forward to seeing. We are fantastic singers!

We have been focussing on concepts of print each day, and can confidently say what each part of a book is… ask us!

Well done to our two Star of the Week’s… Kian who won his award for being such a kind friend, and Zi Xi who won her award for her fantastic effort in each area of the curriculum.

Keep up the hard work, P1c.

Week Ending 6th September 2019

Primary 1b have been busy once again! We have been learning the sounds-s, i, p and n. The boys and girls know the Jolly Phonics songs for the sounds they have worked on so far-they might like to sing them at home! For Big Writing we have been acting out and writing a sentence each about the Nursery Rhymes “Jack and Jill” and “Humpty Dumpty”. In addition, we have been doing work on the numbers 2, 3, 4 and 5.

We welcomed Miss Hunter last Monday to our class for Music. Miss Hunter has been coming to our school for a few years now and the children always enjoy her lessons! We will have Music every second Monday.

A big “Well Done” to our “Stars of the week”-Jayden and Kiana! They won for being kind to their peers and trying their best with all tasks. I wonder who will be our next “Star”……
