Our Learning in P6

We have been learning about the Circular Economy and how we can re-use and remanufacture materials to promote zero waste.

In literacy we have almost finished Coraline. We have one chapter to go and there has just been a major twist!

We were all extremely happy to have been involved in the First Ministers event. We all worked so hard to make sure that displays were looking great. We loved seeing our classmates in the newspapers and online

We now understand key vocabulary around European politics and are ready to kick on with our new topic. We have been working on characterisation and have understood the importance of building characters through detail.

Lastly, we have been so successful in meeting the First Minister. We created a great impression of the school through all our hard work.

 

Our Learning in P5

What have you been learning about?

  • We have been learning about biodiversity.
  • We have been learning about action verbs, it lets you know what a person or something is doing.
  • We have been learning our times tables in maths.

What have you enjoyed in school this week?

  • P5 enjoyed making prints in art.
  • P5 enjoyed learning about Stephen Brown, he is an abstract artist.
  • P5 enjoyed making a Victorian toy called a thaumatrope, it creates an optical illusion.

What have been your successes in school this week?

  • P5 have been developing their maths skills by learning to use column addition.
  • P5 have come to the end of their topic on the Victorians, they have enjoyed learning all about Queen Victoria and the school life of Victorian children.

Our Learning in P4

 

We have been learning about Food Chains in Science. We completed actions to remember the definitions of consumer, producer, prey and predator.

We have enjoyed learning about the Jewish Sabbath.

 We have been successful in writing an Autumn poem to celebrate National Poetry Day.

 

Our Learning in P3b

We have been learning about Florence Nightingale. She worked in hospitals in the 1800s.

In art we were creating Halloween pictures. In maths and numeracy we have been working on our times tables. We have learned the ‘wr’ sound this week.

We have enjoyed going outside to work with Jeely Piece and the Play Champs.

We got to do, outdoor learning and active play.  Learning our tables was fun this week.  We really enjoyed learning about Florence Nightingale.

Our Successes

  • Most of us got 10/10 for our maths test!!
  • Beryl got star of the week for doing extra homework!
  • We were successful in learning facts about Florence Nightingale

 

Our Learning in P3a

This week we started  our new topic Florence Nightingale.  We have been learning about why she is famous.

In maths this week we have been learning about time. We have been revising o’clock and half past.

We enjoyed making pumpkins in art .  We used half an apple and dipped it in paint to print our pumpkins. It was fun. We also enjoyed getting out to use the outdoor play equipment.

We were very successful in Big Writing this week. We wrote excellent stories called If my teacher turned into a witch.  We used lots of interesting vocabulary!

 

Our Learning in P2b

In Social Studies we have been learning about dinosaur. We have been comparing different types of dinosaur- Stegosauruses had spikey backs. A T-rex would have hard skin and sharp teeth.

We have also learned about when dinosaurs lived. We know they lived millions of years ago because they are now fossils which we can look at.

In Literacy we have been learning about ‘ay’. We have learned how to make words out of ay.

We have enjoyed learning ways to add in numeracy. We have learned that putting the bigger number first helps us to add quicker and easier.

Caoimhe- I enjoyed couting from 1 to 7.

We have been writing about Autumn. We have enjoyed picking and talking about all the different colours of the leaves.  We have also written about aliens, we have been successful in being able to  write our own sentences.

Our Learning

In Numeracy, we have been learning all about the numbers 11 and 12. We used lots of different play activities to help us gain more knowledge. We also worked together in teams to try and challenge ourselves by creating a 0-20 number line. Look at those happy and proud faces!

In Literacy, we have been learning all about the sounds ‘g’ and ‘l’. We have also learned the importance of a finger space, full stop and capital letter.

 

We learned all about being safe on Fireworks night. We even pretended we were outside watching real fireworks, in class.

 

 

 

Our Learning in P1b

We have been learning about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies at this time of year. In addition, we have been enjoying learning new songs with Miss Hunter, our visiting Music teacher.

We enjoyed having our first try at an Orienteering activity for part of our Outdoor Learning time.

Our successes in school are learning the sounds “g” and “l” and learning about the numbers “11” and “12”. We are also continuing to learn our Common Words. This week they were go, got and get.

 

Our Learning in P1a

We have been learning about 2D shapes. We can recognise their names and tell you about how many sides they have.

We had fun doing our daily mile walk, this helps us keep active. We also learned about the SHANARRI song. We also had some great Halloween songs this week. We used our music bag to find instruments.

Osawases and Angela were our speed writing champs and Carissa can write all 25 of her common words!
