This week in Literacy we have been reading the text Harry Potter and have identified interesting vocabulary. In our writing we created a recount using a digital clip from a scene in Harry Potter.
In Numeracy we have been learning about symmetry and fractions. We have enjoyed creating symmetrical pictures and calculating and comparing different fractions.
Some of the children were lucky to attend a football tournament and enjoyed the competitive experience.
The P5’s had a fantastic day taking part in the Great Scottish Run. They received medals for their enthusiasm and participation.
P5/4 really enjoyed using the iPads to help them develop their skills of using fractions.
This week the pupils have been successful at learning fractions by using a messy fraction approach. This helped them to become more confident at using fractions to calculate.
The pupils enjoyed their sensory Autumn walk. They used this stimulus to help them with their writing.
We have been learning about biodiversity.
We have been learning about action verbs, it lets you know what a person or something is doing.
We have been learning our times tables in maths.
This week Primary 5 have enjoyed:
- Making prints in art.
- Learning about Stephen Brown, he is an abstract artist.
- Making a Victorian toy called a thaumatrope, it creates an optical illusion.
P5 have been developing their maths skills by learning to use column addition.
The children have come to the end of their topic on the Victorians, they have enjoyed learning all about Queen Victoria and the school life of Victorian children.
We have been learning about Food Chains in Science. We completed actions to remember the definitions of consumer, producer, prey and predator.
We have enjoyed learning about the Jewish Sabbath.
We have been successful in writing an Autumn poem to celebrate National Poetry Day.
As part of topic we have been learning about the bridges in Glasgow and also the River Clyde. Also we learned that the squinty bridge is actually called The Clyde Arc.
We created famous landmarks of Glasgow and displayed our learning to parents.
In Numeracy and Maths, we were learning about the 2 times tables and also coins up to £1. In Literacy, we were writing about a special sandwich and we wrote instructions for an alien to follow.
The week the children said they have enjoyed the following:
- I enjoyed P.E. because it was fun and we get to run about.
- Maths because you can practise and get better.
- ICT because we love sumdog.
- Talking about what we have learned.

This week we have been learning about the Rosary as October is the month of the Holy Rosary. We learned why we use rosary beads and what each bead stands for. In numeracy we have been learning about tens and units and how to add on 9.
We enjoyed presenting our Display of Knowledge on Glasgow to our parents. Look at our fabulous work!
We also made some beautiful stained glass windows for the month of the rosary which we enjoyed.
We were very successful in numeracy this week and we were so good at tens and units that we will be moving on to hundreds tens and units next week.
We have been using magnifying glasses to look at Autumn leaves.
We were inspired to create beautiful pictures of Autumn leaves.
This week we have had lots of fun using our iPads.
We are getting better at recognising our words.
We have been learning about Mary, Jesus’ mum and also about The Rosary. We also now know that October is a month of Mary. We are learning the prayers the Our Father and the Hail Mary.
We enjoyed taking an Autumn walk with our P7 Buddies and they also helped us when we had a try on our new climbing frames in the playground.
Our successes in school this week are learning the sounds “d” and “e” and learning about the numbers “8” and “9”. We also know the words did, as and he.
In Primary 1c this week, during Literacy, we have been learning our new sounds ‘d’ and ‘e’. We loved using different play activities to help with our learning. Here some of us are using play dough to learn our sounds.
We also had music this week with Miss Hunter. We joined with some of p1b, and made good use of our singing voices.
In Numeracy, we were learning all about the numbers 8 and 9. We liked listening to songs about these numbers, and dancing along to these songs. We especially loved using pom poms to make each number. We love maths in p1c! Here some of us are using our fun activities.
In RE, we learned all about the Rosary, and how important this is to Christians. We learned all about Mary, and how she was so special. We created a beautiful altar to celebrate our Blessed Mother.
