Dear Parents and Carers

I hope this finds you well and that you are doing the best you can in these strange times. It is wonderful to hear from so many of you and see your children’s work through Seasaw and Sumdog. You are doing a great job in coping with so many different demands on you. We are proud of you all.

We have many staffing changes:

Ms D’Arcy, (DHT/PT St Kevin’s), Ms Clarke, Ms Walker, Mrs Carson (Secretary in St Stephen’s) have new posts in other schools. We thank them for their hard work and service to our schools. We wish them every happiness and good luck in their new posts.

Ms McManus, DHT and Mrs McAveety retire at the end of this month, after a combined total of over 70 years service to education. Whilst we are sad to see them go, we are delighted that they have time to do what they want, when they want and won’t have to get up early in the morning to come to school. Life will be one big holiday for them!

Miss McGloan is not leaving our campus, but she is leaving St Stephen’s to become part of the teaching staff in St Kevin’s. We are excited to see how she will work with all the pupils across the schools. Also new to our team is Mrs Gardner, Acting DHT in St Stephen’s. She joins us from the central improvement team where she was a Leader of Learning. I am sure you will give her a very warm welcome. Mr McSween PT in St Kevin’s is Acting DHT and has been carrying out this role for a few months. He’ll continue as this after the holidays.

We welcome four new teachers – Miss Lindsay, Miss Smith, Miss McEwan and Miss Josey to St Stephen’s. I have an additional two teacher vacancies in St Kevin’s so I am hoping these will be filled soon.

Here is the classes and allocated teachers for next session.

As you know the changes in education will continue in the new term with children attending school for two days a week and working at home for three days. Over the next few days you will receive a text or an email informing you whether your child is in Group 1 (Monday and Tuesday) or Group 2 (Thursday and Friday). The children will have a staggered start and finish to avoid all of the children arriving and leaving at the same time. The school day has been extended by 30 minutes per day with children starting and finishing at 10 minute intervals – again this information will be texted/emailed to you.

A reminder that our school uniform is: plain red sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan (no badges), blue polo shirt, grey trousers, pinafore or skirt, black plimsoles for inside all school areas. St Stephen’s pupils have the option of a blue school shirt and tie.

We have a new school app. Please download the app, Scot Ed on to your mobile devices. Open it and type in St Stephen’s and St Kevin’s. This will then take you to our school information. Every time you open the app, you will be taken to our school page. We will be putting all of our information on this app moving forward. It is linked to our school website too. You can also keep in touch throughout the summer using:
• our new school website: – https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/gc/ststephensandstkevins
• twitter: – St Stephen’s & St Kevin’s Primaries @StSandStKGCC
School closes officially on Wednesday 24th June at 1:00pm.

We wish our Primary 7s the very best of luck and have every confidence that they will do well in their new schools. We will honour our promise of treats and activities just as soon as it is safe and we cannot wait to see them.

Can I wish you a happy summer break – let’s hope the weather is kind to us all. Thank you for all of your support this year. I look forward to welcoming you all back on in August. Keep well and keep safe.

Kind regards

Mrs Donna K. McKay HT
