Welcome to St. Mungo\u2019s Primary School & Nursery Class!<\/p>\n

We are a co-educational Nursery and Primary School located in the heart of Glasgow and named after it\u2019s Patron Saint, St. Mungo!<\/p>\n

Our Nursery Class is available for children from the age of three <\/strong>and provides morning or afternoon<\/strong> sessions of child-led learning through play with our experienced team of Child Development Officers and Team Leader, Mrs P Green.<\/p>\n

Our Nursery sessions are 8.30am-11.40am<\/strong> and 12.30pm-3.40pm. <\/strong>Please contact our Nursery on 0141 552 2484<\/strong> to find out more!<\/p>\n

Our Primary School<\/strong> includes classes Primary 1 to Primary 7 and our team of teachers and supporting staff provide tailored, engaging learning experiences for our learners in line with Scotland\u2019s Curriculum for Excellence<\/em><\/strong>. <\/em>Children are encouraged to flourish in their learning through experiencing challenge and support, and as a team we are committed to meeting the needs of our learners in line with the policy Getting It Right for Every Child<\/em><\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n

Our school day begins at 9am<\/strong> and ends at 3pm. <\/strong>Our school playgrounds are supervised from 8.45am<\/strong><\/p>\n

Children can attend Breakfast Club from 8.15am<\/strong> in our school hall and over the course of the year a number of afterschool clubs also run to provide children with further, wider experiences in their learning and opportunities to experience success and achievement.<\/p>\n

Our school is a Roman Catholic Primary<\/strong> in which our learning and approaches are informed by and closely linked to Gospel Values. We share close partnerships with the Parish of St. Mungo\u2019s<\/strong>, and especially the Passionist Clergy of the Church.<\/p>\n

We are delighted to welcome you to our nursery and school community \u2013 our \u2018St. Mungo\u2019s Family\u2019<\/strong> is a vibrant, diverse, exciting and nurturing place to be in which our families and young people feel they belong.<\/p>\n

Pupil attendance and absence <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Within St Mungo\u2019s Primary School excellent attendance (95% and above) is encouraged at all times.\u00a0 Parents are asked to inform the Pupil Absence Line (0141 287 0039 or www.glasgow.gov.uk\/pupilabsence) if their child is going to be absent. You can also call the school and press option 1. \u00a0This should be done as soon as possible on the first day of absence.\u00a0 If your child is going to be absent for some time, it would be helpful to know at the earliest opportunity. If no contact is made a text message will be sent to you asking to contact the School. All unexplained absence is investigated and appropriate action taken.<\/p>\n

Parents who wish to request special leave for their child should be submitted in writing to the Headteacher.<\/p>\n

Appointments during school hours<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>If your child has an unavoidable appointment, please give them a letter for their class teacher and then collect them from the school office at the specified time.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Medical & Healthcare<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Our health partners visit at various times during the year for routine health checks, vaccinations and medical examinations.\u00a0 Parents are kept informed by letter.\u00a0 Our flu vaccinations will be taking place on 20th<\/sup> October this year. Please make sure you have returned your child\u2019s information.<\/p>\n

Administration of Medication <\/strong><\/p>\n

Please talk to the Class teacher or a member of the Senior Leadership Team if your child needs medication whilst at School.\u00a0 You will need to fill in a form, called an Administration of Medication form.\u00a0 The office staff will give you the necessary form to complete.<\/p>\n

If your child suffers from any condition, which is aggravated by certain foods or involvement in particular activities, you must ensure that staff are fully informed.<\/p>\n

Please note that staff must be informed and kept up to date of any medical condition.<\/p>\n

Illness or Accident at School<\/strong><\/p>\n

If your child becomes ill while at school we will make him\/her as comfortable as possible and then, if necessary, contact either yourself or one of the emergency contacts.<\/p>\n

If your child is unwell before coming to school it is important that you keep him\/her at home.\u00a0 This will prevent other children and staff from becoming infected.<\/p>\n

Minor accidents will be dealt with in school by staff and\/or our trained First Aider.\u00a0 Accidents are recorded in our accident book.\u00a0 If the injury is to a child\u2019s head, we will telephone you and send a letter home.<\/p>\n

If the accident requires further treatment, we will inform you or an emergency contact immediately.<\/p>\n

Information on Emergencies <\/strong><\/p>\n

We make every effort to maintain a full education service, but on some occasions circumstances arise which lead to disruption.\u00a0 Establishments may be affected by, for example, severe weather, temporary interruption of transport, power failures or difficulties of fuel supply.\u00a0 In such cases we shall do all that we can to let you know about the details of the closure or re-opening.\u00a0 We shall keep in touch by using letters, notices in local shops and community centres, announcements in local churches and in the press and on local radio<\/p>\n
