Each teacher develops with the pupils, a list of rules\/expectations for the classroom which should be referred to regularly and as necessary. These rules\/expectations should be clearly displayed in each class along with our school rules.<\/p>\n<p>These are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Golden Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><em>We listen to people, we don\u2019t interrupt.<\/em><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em>We are honest, we don\u2019t cover up the truth.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em>We are kind and helpful, we don\u2019t hurt anybody\u2019s feelings.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em>We are gentle, we don\u2019t hurt others.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em>We try to work hard, we don\u2019t waste time.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em>We look after property, we don\u2019t waste or damage things.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pupils are expected to demonstrate a high standard of behaviour at all times. This is achieved by demonstrating mutual respect and co-operation and a spirit of fairness. A clear, consistent approach to promoting positive behaviour is in operation. A clear understanding should be develop, by both staff and pupils, of behavioural expectations, rewards and sanctions. Working together pupils, parents and all staff have agreed approaches to promoting positive behaviour in St. Maria Goretti primary school.<\/p>\n<p>A range of strategies are used throughout the school with an agreed framework of rewards and sanctions. Incidents are dealt with using restorative approaches and pupils are asked to reflect on their behaviour and the effects their actions have on others around them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In St Maria Goretti we have involved pupils in the development of school and class rules.
