Autumn!

This week, we have been chatting about the change in seasons.

What happens in Autumn?  The leaves change colour to a beautiful brown, yellow, red or orange colour and fall off the trees .

We also discussed the ways in which animals gather food for the winter months ahead and looked at horse chestnuts and acorns.

We collected leaves from our school grounds and then looked at a book to tell us which trees they belong to.  Did you know, our school has 4 different types of trees in its grounds?  We have birch, beech, ash and field maple trees!

When we got back to the Rainbow Room, we printed with our leaves.  We chose some autumn coloured paints and painted the side of the leaves that had veins on them.  We pressed the painted side down hard onto our paper and gave it a magic rub.  When we peeled the leaves off the paper, there was a beautiful print of the leaves underneath.

Preparing for the year ahead!

Hello, and welcome to our new Nurture Blog for 2019-2020!

Primary 1 to 3 group have been getting ready for the year ahead in Nurture by creating our new ‘Rainbow Family Rules’.  These rules will help to make the Rainbow Room a happy and safe place to learn.  The rules are:

  1.  Stay together.
  2. Stay safe.
  3. Kind hands.
  4. Kind feet.
  5. Love each other.

The children came up with these rules themselves!  Here are some pictures of us sharing our ideas and creating a colourful list of the rules.
