{"id":544,"date":"2018-05-01T18:36:20","date_gmt":"2018-05-01T18:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/stbrendans\/?page_id=544"},"modified":"2025-10-24T08:25:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T08:25:10","slug":"faith","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/stbrendans\/faith\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Faith Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Partnership with parents and carers <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parents have a vital role, as partners in helping a Catholic School provide solid foundations in faith and learning.\u00a0 The Catechism of the catholic Church makes it clear that parents are the prime educators of their children, working in partnership with the Catholic school to ensure the spiritual development of their child.<\/p>\n<p>Catholic Education is a great deal more than schooling.\u00a0 it is a lifelong process of human growth and development which begins in the home, continues in the school and matures through involvement with the Christian community in the parish.<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Sacraments<\/strong> &#8211; Reconciliation, Holy Communion &amp; Confirmation. <\/span><\/h6>\n<p>In St Brendan&#8217;s PS we work in close partnership with St Brendan&#8217;s Parish Priest, Fr Joe McAuley, our families and the parish community to support children who are presented for their sacraments.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Reconciliation <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Pupils prepare for their First Reconciliation in Primary 3 and receive the sacrament during the month of March. the children are taught about the importance of saying sorry for the mistakes they make and reflect on God&#8217;s great love for them and his willingness to always forgive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>First Holy Communion <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pupils are usually prepared for receiving their First Eucharist in Primary 4. the children spend a lot of time learning about and reflecting on the tremendous gift of the Eucharist.\u00a0 They receive their First Holy Communion during the month of May.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Confirmation <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in primary 7.\u00a0 In Confirmation the young people are signed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 The sacrament renews and strengthens their baptismal call to bear witness to Christ before the world and to devote themselves to the building up of his body, which is the Church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>All children who wish to be presented for these Sacraments must be baptised.\u00a0 If you wish to have your child baptised, please contact your Parish Priest.<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Faith<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> in Action &#8211; Faith is Love &#8211; Love is Service<\/span><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">St Brendan&#8217;s PS is committed to uphold the moral teaching, faith tradition and the sacramental life of the Catholic Church.\u00a0 In proclaiming the joy of the Gospel, our pupils understand and experience the values\u00a0 proclaimed in the Gospel- love, sacrifice, faithfulness, humility, compassion, tolerance , as expressed in the Beatitudes.
