Health and Wellbeing

A healthy lifestyle supports physical, social and emotional wellbeing, and underpins successful learning.

Learning in Health and wellbeing ensures that children and young people develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, capabilities and attributes which they need now and in the future. As a school it is very important to us that our young people get the best start in life and can use the skills they learn to ensure this healthy lifestyle continues into adulthood

In St. Brendan’s working in partnership, we take a holistic approach to promoting health and wellbeing.  The mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing of everyone is positively developed by fostering a safe, caring, supportive, purposeful environment that enables the development of relationships based on mutual respect.

Children also need to learn ways of dealing with many new and challenging situations they will experience throughout their lives . Our Nurture Class supports children in Primary one and two with social and emotional health and wellbeing.  We also support other children throughout the school as part of an upper school nurture group. This year we have a “ Calm Space “ dedicated to support pupils in crisis or who are experiencing an upset in their lives .

Our aim is that our children will be have the very best start in life and ready to succeed.
