Play Along Maths is a numeracy family learning programme developed in 1994 by a Senior Teacher and Home Link Worker in Airdrie. Glasgow City Council obtained the resources from its founders in 2019 to ensure its development and longevity, and have been working with Education Colleagues since October 2022 to refresh and relaunch the programme. St Bernard’s are launching a new programme specifically for targeted P4 pupils. The family choose a game to take home on a weekly basis and use a ‘Chat Along Card’ to enhance Numeracy skills in a fun and practical way in alignment with Scottish Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) First Level Numeracy.
The programme aims to,
– Build confidence in both children and parents,
— Empower pupils to take the lead and share their learning.
– Encourage conversations about maths,
– Reinforce school learning at home,
– Support maths progress in a hands-on, accessible approach.
