Welcome to our school

Welcome to St Bartholomew’s Primary School

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to St. Bartholomew’s Primary School. We are a Roman Catholic Primary School serving the population of Castlemilk. The home, Church and the school form a partnership, at the centre of which is your child.

My name is Angela Fitzpatrick and I am privileged to be the Head Teacher of St Bartholomew’s Primary School.

As Head Teacher it is my intention that your child will receive the highest standard of education possible within a caring Catholic environment. I am committed to creating every opportunity for your child to succeed and to be a motivated, confident and ambitious individual.

Our school has a happy, positive ethos based on our gospel values. We have very high expectations of pupil behavior and children are guided to take responsibility for making positive choices. Children are rewarded for their efforts and we invest considerable time building our children’s confidence and self-esteem. We ensure the highest level of pastoral care for our children and families.

Our school community is an extension of our school and we aim to develop relationships in an atmosphere of trust and partnership. We welcome the opportunity for you to be a partner in your child’s learning and we encourage you to become involved in the life of the school. Parental engagement is very important to us in St Bartholomew’s Primary and we welcome your involvement as a full member of our school community through our Parent Council or as part of the wider Parent Forum.

Please contact myself at the school if you ever have any queries. I will be delighted to help you in any way I can.

Sacramental Update

Sacramental Update

Dear Parent/Carer,

After discussions with the Parish Priest, Father Ian Bathgate, a decision has been made about the dates for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Please see the information below.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

This will take place in the school building on Thursday 29th April at 1:30pm.  Unfortunately, no parents or family members can attend.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion

This will take place over 2 dates in St. Bartholomew’s Parish Church at 12:30pm on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June.  Currently, a maximum of 4 people can accompany each child. The date for individual children receiving the Sacrament will be finalised after the Easter holidays.  The children should come smartly dressed in either their uniforms or another suitable outfit. We realise how challenging this year has been and are aware of the difficulties facing families in sourcing the more ‘traditional’ outfits. If you already have such outfits for your child then, of course, they can be presented wearing this. However, we would urge you not to spend lots of money, especially this year, which has been financially challenging for so many families. It will be a beautiful, joyous occasion no matter what.

Sacrament of Confirmation

This will take place over 2 dates in St. Bartholomew’s Parish Church at 7pm on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th June. Currently, a maximum of 4 people can accompany each child. All children should wear their school uniform.

Anyone wishing to have their child baptised will have to contact Father Ian directly as soon as possible otherwise your child cannot be presented for the Sacraments.

Please check the Parish Facebook page and Sunday Bulletin for all updates.

Thank you for your continued support.

I wish you all a happy and Holy Easter.

Yours sincerely
