Litter picking in the sunshine β˜€οΈβ™»οΈ

We worked in groups to find litter and pick it up. We recorded what we found using tally marks and Miss Brooks is going to send this information to the council.

We found lots of plastic wrappers in our school grounds and even glass bottles.

We scouted the upper playground and the lower playground.

Then, we went to to the pitch and scouted for more litter.Β  We managed to collect 6 black bags worth of rubbish!!

On Monday, Mr Kennedy and Miss Piolie came to teach us how to code.Β  They are computing teachers from Holyrood.

We learned new vocabulary:

An algorithm Β is a set of instructions.
Debugging is when you fix an error in a programme.

Coding is giving directions or instructions to a person or computer programme for them to move.Β  We gave instructions to angrybirds to get to the pig.Β  It was fun and we learned lots. #CODINGΒ  Β #UNLOCKINGCODESΒ Β Β  #GAMERS4LIFE

Animations

We were teaching Primary 1 how to create animations using the Stop Motion app on the iPad.

Primary 1 had created scenes of the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and made the characters using clay.

We got into groups of mixedΒ P1sΒ  and P6s.Β

First we used the stop motion app to takeΒ pictures of the story.Β  After, we had taken pictures of the storyline, we added audio of the different parts of the text.Β  We showed the Primary 1s how to add features such as pausing and using a frame.

Hafsa and Muhammad went to the Digital Showcase and presented about what we do for digital learning in our school!Β  Everyone was so impressed by how knowledgeable they were.Β

Kelburn Castle 🌳🌺

What an amazing trip to Kelburn Castle and Countrypark on Wednesday!!
Kelburn Castle is such a unique castle because of its graffiti art.Β  The castle was designed by Brazilian and Glaswegian artists.Β  It’s also known as the fairytale castle and belongs to the Boyle family.

Whole school trips are so much fun because we get to go on trips with our friends from all over the school and our brothers, sisters and cousins.Β  Some of us went with our parents which was fun too.

We saw chickens, geese and an angry alpaca. #NOTLAMAS
Manahil saw the chickens and felt bad that she eats chicken all the time.
Zainab wanted to eat the chicken!!

We climbed, swung and played outdoors.
Some of us got some serious rope burns. #OUCHAMINA
Mr Stewart was pushing us all on the swings and making us fall into the mud.

Then, we explored The Secret Forest. It was magical.
Some of us got lost a few times and got stuck in a house.Β  We were terrified so we started screaming.
There were secret waterfalls and we had to step on the stones so as we didn’t get soaked!!
Zeenat’s the queen of the castle. #QUEEN

St Albert’s Bears tied in their first game against Cuthbertson and we won the rest of our games.

St Albert’s Cheetahs won their first game against Holy Cross but lost our second game against Cutherburtson. #BOO

St Albert’s Tigers won all of our games against Holy Cross and St Brigids. #WINNING

It was a super fun day and we were exhausted after it.

Glasgow City Tour Bus with Sandaig Primary

What a great start to the month of May!

We were lucky enough to go on the Glasgow City Tour Bus with the P6 pupils from Sandaig Primary and see lots of famous sights in Glasgow.

#WINDY πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Can you name these famous places?Β

We filmed each other describing the famous Glasgow landmarks using iPads. Here’s Rio filming Haidar at St Mungo’s Cathedral.

As well as seeing the sights of Glasgow and filming shots for our European Championship films, we also got to the know the kids from Sandaig Primary better and made new friends.Β

Fareed had too much fresh air and excitement for one day …
