Feast of St Bernadette

We were researching about St Bernadette on Monday 16th April because it is the Feast Day of St Bernadette.

We used the iPads to find information on St Bernadette and her story.Β  She had 17Β visions of Mary in Lourdes.Β  Lourdes is in the South of France.Β  Miss McCue is visiting Lourdes in July.

We then presented what we learned to the rest of the class. Β We have been working hard to improve our presentation skills and are going to become even better presenters by the end of June!!

Famous Glaswegians

As part of our Glasgow topic, we learned about famous Glaswegians.

We worked in groups to read fact files and pick out information about the famous Glaswegian.

  • We learned about Sir Alex Ferguson who is famous for being a successful football manager.
  • Charles Rennie Mackintosh is famous being an architect, designer and artist.
  • Katherine Granger is famous for winning gold and silver medals in rowing at the Olympic Games.
  • Duncan Bannatyne is a famous Glaswegian businessman, author and he was part of the TV show, ‘Dragon’s Den.
  • Andy Murray is a tennis superstar and was born in Glasgow!
  • Sir Mortimer WheelerΒ was a Glaswegian who was famous for being an archaeologist, and an officer in the British Army.

After we found the information, we summarised it and put it into our own fact files then presented it to the class.Β  We are working on improving our presenting skills by making sure that we speak clearly and look at our audience instead of looking at our jotter.

Glasgow in the sun.

We are learning about our city, Glasgow, as a mini topic and are working with a P6 class from Sandaig Primary.

We learned the Glasgow rhyme and recreated the Glasgow coat of arms.

There’s the tree that never grew.
There’s the bird that never flew.
There’s the fish that never swam.
There’s the bell that never rang.

The sun was shining so we took our learning outside.

Talk for Writing – what we did during the holidays.

We used the Talk for Writing approach to tell our stories of what we did over the holidays.

First, we planned on our whiteboards and then drew our story map in our jotters.Β  We then wrote about what we did during the holidays, making sure it matched our picture story.

Soha got an aeroplane to Egypt!

Amina drove up to the north of Scotland and climbed a mountain.
