Fill Our Plate – P6’s Foodbank Art Exhibition

For our art exhibition, we turned our classroom into a foodbank and shared  our learning with the rest of the school, our parents and a special judge, Jack.  We have collected food for The Trussel Trust and The City Mission.  These charities run foodbanks that hungry people can go to and collect food for free.

Here’s Primary 1/2 learning about the different food items we collected.

Zainab’s mum, Mimi’s mum, Arhum’s mum, Mujtaba’s mum, Laiba’s mum, Zain’s mum and even Miss McCue’s mum came to see the amazing work we have been doing.

Mrs Connell, Mr McCormack, Miss Kelly and Mrs Harker came into see our work too.

We also had visitors from The Tramway and Abeera in P6/7’s mum and sisters.

On Wednesday, we went to Webster’s Theatre to see Jackie and the Baked Beanstalk in panto.  It was HILARIOUS!!

The dame, Lola, loved Mr Orr.

Christmas Fayre!!

Miss McCue took some of us to a dance workshop at Holyrood on Tuesday.  It was so much fun being at the High School and being taught by pupils from the High School.  We were split up into groups and taught dances then at the end every group performed to the other groups.  It was scary because there were 8 schools there so over 150 children.

We worked in groups and used the iPads to search for different sources of information about Children’s Rights.  The different sources we found were newspapers, websites, government documents and policies, UNICEF and OXFAM.  We made a newer version of Our Class Charter based on the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child.

On Friday, we had the Christmas Fayre so we made posters to advertise what we were selling.  We ran a Chocolate Tombola which made us so much money!! We sold Bubble Swords and sold Christmas pictures of us in frames with our friends.  We had a Guess the Teddies Name too.  John Junior in P3 won the Teddy.  Miss McCue had called it Pippin!

We prepared all our chocolate bars by putting raffle tickets on them for our Chocolate Tombola!!  It took ages and we wanted to eat all of the chocolate!!!!

The Christmas Fayre was so much fun.  Our Class Raised just under £150!! WOW!!!! #MONEYMAKERS

Here’s Zeenat explaining how the Chocolate Tombola works to Mrs Harker.

GOMA Trip and Library Trip.

On Monday, we went on a trip to the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in town.  We got the subway into town and then walked to the GOMA. It was freezing!!  We looked at lots of cool contemporary art and got some ideas for our art exhibition.

After lunch, we visited the Christmas Markets at St Enoch Square.  We got free pancakes!! #YUM

Some of us bought gifts and sweets.  It was so much fun.

On the way back to school, Miss McCue took us to the park to play for a while.  #PLAY

Fareed pushed us on the tyre swing.  He’s so strong.

Rayan and Emaan climbed straight to the top of the spider’s web. #FEARLESS

We started to learn our song for the Christmas Nativity.  We will be singing, ‘Only You’ by Yazoo.  Mr McCormack is playing the guitar while we sing along.  He is sooooo talented.  #MUSICMAN

On Wednesday, we went on another trip! We walked to Pollokshields library and had an information session with the librarian.  Then, we chose 3 books each and took them out at the desk.

On the way back to school, Miss McCue let us play in Square Park for a while.  Sometimes you just have to laugh and play.
